British Foreign Minster, Jack Straw calls for a final solution for israel?

this version by the culture of death

Last week we voted in the UN Security Council for a resolution that condemns the killing of the Palestinian civilians in the Rafah city and calls Israel to live up with the rules of international law by refraining from demolishing Palestinian-owned homes, the British senior official pointed out.

He also hinted that the UK has backed Israeli Prime Minster Ariel Sharon’s withdrawal plan, on which Israel would dismantle some settlements in the Gaza Strip, however, the UK deemed that such withdrawal be carried out in coordination with the Palestinian National Authority.

FM Straw stressed that his country is committed to ensuring smooth Israeli withdrawal from Gaza as a first move, to be followed with similar major steps, leading eventually to a final solution based on the Road Map and the relevant United Nations’ resolutions.

VERSUS

this version in the scotsman

“There is a path set out to achieve that by withdrawal from occupied territories,” he said. “It has got to start somewhere.

“It was never going to happen all at once, overnight, so it always seemed to us that a proposal to withdraw from Gaza and to withdraw settlements from Gaza was something to be welcomed.

“I am very glad that this welcome was endorsed yesterday by the United Nations, European Union, Russian Federation and United States.”

He added: “We give our full support to the Quartet in its call for renewed efforts to reach a comprehensive ceasefire as a step towards the dismantlement of terror groups and infrastructure and renewed progress towards a negotiated final settlement through the Road Map.”

hmmm so do I detect someone changed his qoute?!

o why do I suppose the palistinians would rather hear the words final solution rather than final settelment... or did the scotsman polish and massage his qoute? hmmmm

This is the Enemy
by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

May 30, 2004

[WARNING: The following contains graphic descriptions of violence.]

Nick Berg, an American from Philadelphia, was kidnapped and tortuously beheaded by Arabs in Iraq sometime in May. The murderers filmed the deed and proudly displayed the victim’s severed head.

After killing six Israeli soldiers in an attack on an armored vehicle in Gaza on May 11, the Arabs near the scene of the carnage gleefully held aloft human body parts in front of rolling cameras. One of the Arab terrorists was later interviewed on film with what appeared to be a human head in front of him.

The week before, after shooting at Tali Hatuel’s car, causing it to skid and stop, Arab terrorists walked over to the vehicle to finish the occupants off. They looked at the heavily pregnant mother and her four no-doubt frightened girls; the youngest was two years old. And then shot them all. At point-blank range. With sadistic satisfaction, they systematically murdered Tali Hatuel and her unborn son, as well as all of Tali’s daughters - Hila, age 11, Hadar, 9, Roni, 7, and two-year-old Meirav.

In Fallujah in March, crowds of townspeople dragged four American civilians out of their vehicles, shot or beat them to death, mutilated their bodies, dragged them through the streets, suspended them from a bridge and burned them.

And they danced and cheered.

With their children.

In Ramallah in 2000, two Israeli soldiers were kidnapped, beaten, stabbed countless times, had their eyes gouged out, and were literally disemboweled and dismembered by an Arab lynch mob.

The people - and I use the term loosely - who carried out the initial beatings threw one of the victims down to the waiting mob, where his face was further crushed with stones, feet, fists and even a heavy metal window frame. One Jew was set on fire and dragged along the street as Arab onlookers danced and cheered. Some of the butchers celebrated their crimes with the victims’ internal organs. One of the killers, famously captured on film, proudly displayed his blood-soaked hands to the cheering Ramallah crowd.

And it gets worse. In 2003, nearly two years later, Arab parents in Gaza cheered again when their little children dressed up as members of the Ramallah lynch mob, complete with hands painted blood red, for a kindergarten graduation ceremony.

According to a report by Dr. Michael Widlanski, an Israeli Arabic expert, the Voice of Palestine called the attack on the Hatuel girls “an act of heroic martyrdom”. The targeted children and their mother, the PA radio reported only as “five settlers”.

Among the participants at the funerals of the Hatuel family members was President of Israel Moshe Katzav. He said, “This day of blood will be engraved in our history. An earthquake has happened. No one in the world can stand apathetically by in the face of these acts by such evil people. Where are those who speak in the name of Allah?”

National Review contributing editor David Frum posed the same question in his May 12 “Diary” on NRO: “Where are the imams?” he asked.

Some of “those who speak in the name of Allah,” Mr. President, were busy sawing Nick Berg’s head from his body in Iraq. “Allah is great!” they shouted in triumphal glee as they killed their bound and helpless victim. The imams are in the mosques, Mr. Frum, waving swords and exhorting their followers to behead a Jew: “Allah willing, we will cut off his head! Oh Jews! Allah is great! Allah is great!” They are also in Saudi Arabian palaces, telling their subjects that they are 95% certain Zionists are behind Islamist terrorism. They are also writing for the Arab media, explaining that Jews are behind all the evil in the world. And they are even organizing soccer matches, Mr. President, honoring mass murderers.

This is the enemy. Don’t look away
.

I dont know about you the reader but I look at anyone who celibrates murdering little girls as a heroic act, rabid dogs. and the sooner we have all out war to defeat them the better.

a picture is worth a thousand words ~~the "UN" is a terrorist enabling organization.

this from Melanie Phillips's Diary

UNWRA's Commissioner General Peter Hansen went ballistic when Israel claimed UN ambulances had been used to smuggle away the body parts of Israeli troops who had been blown up in Gaza. As the Jerusalem Post reported:

'UNWRA's commissioner general Peter Hansen is demanding Israel apologize for allegations made last week by defense minister Shaul Mofaz that UN ambulances had been used to transport IDF soldier body remains to terrorist strongholds, reported IBA news. Hansen said a letter requesting proof from the Israeli government had so far met with no reply. Accordingly, Mofaz has no reason to believe there is any truth at all to the extremely unfortunate accusation being made against UNRWA, said Hansen.'

what do we see there? oops its ARMED masked terrorists getting into a UN ambulance mr hanson you prick.

UPDATE: a.e.brain had this to say on the subject.

Why hasn't this footage been seen on TV?

"Why has there been no apology from the UN? Why has there been no investigation of a clearly documented War Crime of the gravest kind, the use of 'protected status' under the Law of Armed Conflict (Geneva Accords) for military purposes? This really is a Big Deal, as Israel can now quite legitimately target UN 'ambulances' as hostile vehicles. Unless the UNRWA does something about the situation, including bringing its own personnel to justice in front of a criminal tribunal, then it has been graphically and irrevocably tainted.

And in view of the explosive nature of the footage, why has it been supressed? No journalist who saw it could say it was un-newsworthy. It came from Reuters, not some anonymous and unknown source. This is at least as newsworthy as the Abu Ghraib photos, and even more spectacular. So why?"

Rubber tapper, 63, beheaded in South

The restive South took a turn for the worse yesterday as suspected Muslim militants decapitated a rubber-tapper and threatened to carry out more killings if security forces continued to arrest “innocent Muslims”.

Sieng Padkaew, 63, a resident of Narathiwat’s Sungai Padi district, was beheaded by an unknown number of assailants on his rubber plantation about two kilometres from his house in tambon Toh Daeng yesterday morning before dawn.

A typed note saying, “If you arrest innocent Malay, we will kill innocent Thai Buddhist”, was left on Sieng’s body, while his severed head was placed about 60 metres away on a nearby dirt road - apparently so people passing would see it.

Eyewitnesses said Somsri, Sieng’s wife, begged hysterically for her husband’s head to be sewn back on. They said the two were born in the area, had lived there all their lives, did not have any problems with anybody, and she had no idea why her husband was attacked.

an example of true torture related by an iraqi

this was posted by blogger zayphar at "one of ours"

I won't forget the day when I saw one of Saddam's tanks crushing the heads of 40 She'at Iraqis who were among others arrested for no obvious reason in 1991. Their hands were tied and put on the street for the tank to pass over their heads. The words" No She'at after today" where written on that tank.

I was one of those people. My hands were tied to the back and a grenade was put between them and the safety pin removed. It was positioned in a way that it should explode if I was to make any move, and I was left a lone in a deserted area that was at least 5 Km. from any life. If it wasn't for the kindness of one of the soldiers who came back and rescued me, I would've certainly died soon.
Ihsan Al-Shimmari-Sweeden.

We lived our worst years under Saddam regime, a regime that many Arabs still believe in! We don't know why don't they leave us in peace, especially the Arab media that turns liberation into occupation and criminals into resistant. We, Iraqis, know the truth very well. The situation is much better now for the vast majority of Iraqis. Most of the people are government employees who used to get paid 4 or 6 thousand Iraqi dinars. Now the lowest salary is 100 thousand Iraqi Dinar. We feel free and we don't fear prisons and torture. The Arab media, as expected, made a huge fuss about the prisoners abuse in Abu-Gharib. Shame on them. Where were they when Saddam put explosives around a bunch of young men and blasted their bodies and they all saw that on TV? Where were they?
Saman-Iraq.

I had to leave Iraq because I didn't want to be one of Saddam's slaves. After so many years, I'm back to my country and I saw that people are not as nervous as they used to be. I saw hope in their eyes despite the security problems. All I have to say to our Arab brothers is,"We are practicing democracy. You keep enjoying dictatorship"
Ilham Hussain-Baghdad.

gun review 2

the glock

this hardworking semi auto is the new backbone of many US police forces, taking over from the revolver. it is easy to master, safe, reliable, and one of the most loved and hated guns speaking purely in the looks department. but as far as functional reliability goes it has few peers. it has been sunk to the bottom of the ocean for months under salt water and still fired reliably. it has been lost in the sand and still fired, run over in muck, and still fired, basically it keeps firing under some of the harshest circumstances. they will shoot and shoot and it is virtually imposible to wear them out.

its available in a huge array of calibers and configurations, from 9mm to .357sig or 40 cal., 45 to 10mm it is easily cutomizeable, with many shops offering special packages. barrel venting, lasers, grip refinement, drop in items like plugs, guide rods, conversion kits to fire .22 cal for plinking fun and training, sights, slide releases, the list goes on and on. if you look hard you can usually find a glock at a reasonable price, 19 or 23's can sometimes be picked up for under 475 bucks.

my bottom line for owning and carrying a glock is the no worry reliability. I absolutely know when I need it, it will not fail me. mine is a model 19. thats a 9mm with a slightly shortened slide and grip for better concealability. I keep it ready with pre ban 15 round mags with the 2+ extension for 17 rounds in the mag and one in the chamber for a total of 18 rounds of high velocity ammo (corbon and blue glaser saftey slugs) if your a good shot and your "problem" needs more than 18 rounds your fucked.

one of the most innovative cutomizers for glocks is aro tek, I have bought some of thier drop in parts and they were flawless.

and a good site for in depth info on the glock family go to the glock faqs page with plenty of info on the glock & Aftermarket Parts & Accessories

belmont club reviews the real trouble with the media and thier sloppy unproffesionalism

belmont club analysis

"The media inability to make sense of its own story and update the basic account based on new information has been highlighted in Belmont Club's The Wedding Party series. As a consequence, the Times was not even aware that it was refuting itself.

The problem with the media is it cannot accurately keep track of the facts. It is not institutionally equipped to grade the reliability of information brought to its front pages. It has no organized method of collaterally confirming stories based on sources that are unlikely to collude. It has no analysis cells to follow a story and continuously reevaluate the reliability of initial information based on subsequent developments.

Jason Van Steenwyk convincingly shows, by laying out the verbatim transcript of US Marine General James Mattis and coverage by the Globe and Mail, the Guardian, the New York Times, Reuters, Agence Presse France and the Independent how the basic fact of what Mattis said slipped through the toils of these famous newspapers. Mattis was being asked to comment on an attack on alleged wedding party on the Syrian border. His verbatim response was:

I can't...I've seen the pictures, but I can't...bad things happened. Generally...in Fallujah, I never saw a Marine hide behind a woman or a child or hold them in their house and fire out of the building. I don't have to apologize for the conduct of my Marines.

This sentence, first a refusal to comment, then a basic reaffirmation of faith in his men based on their conduct in Fallujah, was twisted into a cavalier dismissal of civilian casualties. The New York Times rendered Mattis as:

At a news conference in Falluja, west of Baghdad, he said that two dozen men of military age were among those killed. "Let's not be naive," he said. "Bad things happen in wars." "I don't have to apologize for the conduct of my men," he added.

The Independent has the least accurate rendition of all:

"These were more than two dozen military-age males. Let's not be naive," Major General James Mattis, commander of the US 1st Marine Division, said. But he had no explanation of where the dead women and children in the video came from. "I have not seen the pictures but bad things happen in wars," he said cryptically. "I don't have to apologize for the conduct of my men."

In the Independent's version, Mattis is quoted as saying he had not seen the pictures, but in the transcript he clearly says he has. The question clearly refers to the alleged attack on the supposed wedding party, but the words "I can't ... I've seen the pictures, but I can't" which clearly indicates a refusal to comment are omitted altogether.

This error did not creep into the accounts of the Times or the Independent or the other newspapers due to a reliance on some 'poisoned source' or a source 'with an agenda' which the Times regards as the fount of mischief. It came from a failure to consult the tape of the interview and a verbatim transcript available. As Jason Van Steenwyk puts it:

Essentially, it looks like they're quoting each other, or some apocryphal Q source material. They're not quoting General Mattis. They didn't even show up at the press conference, and they didn't bother to get a transcript or listen to the tape. But all these reporters are passing their crap off as if they were right from the source material.

The error in this specific case doesn't necessarily have to do with the "liberal bias" that is attributed to these news outlets. It stems directly and plainly from a very poor management of the factual source material. The incident Van Steenwyk describes illustrates the palimpsest-like phenomenon described in Belmont Club's The Wedding Party series, where facts of uncertain provenance all pile on top of one another in a developing story, very often of different dates, with discredited facts receiving equal billing with more reliable information. It is only fair to say that these defects can be found in conservative news outlets as well because the media in general is not organizationally structured to verify and preserve the integrity of information nor to apply rigorous analysis to it."

read his page regularly and you will be a step above and ahead.

too busy to blog much for a few days

I own an old farmhouse near the rio grande river here in new mexico, mi casa es una casa muy vieja de la granja y necesita alot del trabajo,

(it's old and it needs alot of work.)

im remodeling the guest bathroom which necessitated a total gutting, I have had to rip out the walls down to the studs, rip up the floor down to the joists, dig out the ground under the house and haul close to a dozen wheelbarrows full of dirt out through my living room. to make room for all new plumbing and access to it in the future,

the old stuff was so old that it was terra cotta pipes (clay pipes) and you can see from the pics that the joists are to far apart, (no housing codes to worry about 80 years ago in new mexico)

I just finished the new plumbing and reinforced the joists with new 2x8". and put in a new sub floor of 3/4" plywood with a 1/4" wonder board top, tommorow (wed) I plan to start tiling either with traditioanl saltillo tiles or something along that line, with a tile wainscote along the walls. then new shower, toilet, and pedestal sink.

anyway its alot of work so I dont have the time to surf the net keeping an eye on the weasils of the world till next week.

heres some pics of where I was at this morning before I reinforced the joists and put in the sub floor. basically it was just a big hole in the ground, ~~~~kinda like a liberals soul har har har I crack my self up!

open it in a separate window for a closer view, ya know, ...if plumbing really turns your crank.

one of the benefits of toppling saddam

libya has been cooperating fully in the dismanteling of all thier weapons programs, because mo decided he didnt want to be next. some of the information and evidence coming out of this is that saddam had some of his best nuclear scientists in libya working to get them both (saddam & qaddafi) the bomb.

it is a strategic benifit of striking iraq, and it is a tactical move in the war on terror, it IS a war, this is part of it and we cant stop now.

....or by my friend benny, who thinks insurgents are just freedom fighters

|
****************************************************************************

friends dont let friends stay liberal, at least not without a fight.

a very good friend of mine, my "brother" (we are that close) I am the god parent of his son, I was in the army with him through the late 80's and we have lived in the same cities after we both got out, doing the family thing together with our wives.,

he has literally been in college since we got out of the military first as a student then as a grad student and now as a professor in american history, and we fight like cats and dogs over politics.

he is a perfect example of someone who has been so insulated by acedemia, and so inculcated with the college propaganda of moral relativism that when I want to see what is being said or taught about a particular subject I just give him my point of view and see how he reacts, if he attacks me personally it means the party line hasnt trickled down yet, if he attacks bush it means they are working on it, and if he attacks america it means they have figured out thier answer and are passing it around.

dont get me wrong he is a stand up guy and in his personal life he is so conservative he makes ward cleaver look like a free wheelin johnny dep, but unfortunately he is a perfect example of brainwashing. if he reads this I will have to listen to him rant for an hour. blah blah blah blah

here is how I know the moral relativism crowd at the campus has come up with thier latest speel on not only why we are doing badly (I dispute that) but who our enemy is and why they aint so bad. (I dispute that too) unfortunately he ignores every hole I punch in his arguments like muslims ignore womens rights.

here is his answer to me after I sent him a few opinion pieces to read, which ones are immterialat this point, its his answer and the liberal hive mentality I think is a riot.

here is his answer and it is mirrored in an earlier post I did about michael moore. this is how I know his answer is the "officially aproved left wing answer.

everything but the kitchen sink is in this answer, a less than honorable picture painted of america or its history, an enemy that is related to and discribed as "not so bad" the add hominum euro socialist view that its america that is arrogant, and finally the attack on our projection of power fitting neatly into description #2 in my last post.

Tom,

This is the sort of shit that comes out of a mess such as the Middle East. When there is no political resolution there is war and terrorism, this happened during the American Revolution and the Civil War, brother against brother and horrid atrocities such as we see in the Middle East, its just the violence was not called terrorism. If you are living in a country occupied by an outside force and you try to kick them out why are you called a terrorist? How stupid. Think about the following hypothetical situation. What happened if Russians conquered America and we fought in guerilla style to kick them out so they would not establish communism. Would be called insurgents or terrorists? The arrogance to think that Muslims would want democracy instituted by America is beyond arrogance, and that is why American political leaders are now scaling back the rhetoric and sounding much more realistic about the outcome of this American folly.

Benny

besides iraq, his response was also in relation to this article reviewing the barbaric behavior of the plo even to thier own people.

now, im just an unfrozen caveman with not nearly the intelectual prowess of my old friend ben, so im going to let a picture tell a thousand words.

here in response to his contention that all that terorists are is noble misunderstood freedom fighters who have to do some unfortunate things that appear as terrorism to us, speel, (which I catagorically believe is a false asertion,) I give him and you exibit A.

the Hatuel family all shot in the faces (by palistinian "activists" so beloved by american acedemia) including the 2 year old, untill they were all obliterated.
hey benn, the one kind of looks like your little girl.... ruminate on that.

the stages of liberal oposition to america

Pierre Legrand from the pink flamingo opined on his distress over the possible loss of GW and what it would mean, and I have some thoughts that crystalize for me what the nature of the oposition really is and why it is so dangerous to our nation.

the pink flamingo

I have been worrying about the War on Terror and have been harping and whining about the conduct of said war. I have through my belief that the war on terror was THE most important issue forgotten what will happen if I manage to pile on enough crap to enable the Democrats to win. They are NOT running someone like Joe Lieberman who would be just as committed to winning the war they are running someone who was President of an organization Vietnam Vets against the War that had this to say about 9/11.

For over a century, Western corporations have dominated the Middle East to profit from its oil. For the last 50 years, the United States has supported Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands and has helped prop up corrupt regimes in some Arab countries. The continued American troop presence in Saudi Arabia and the suffering of the Iraqi people under economic sanctions has added to this resentment.

This is the sort of person I may enable to win in November if I continue to harp and whine about each individual action of the President. Sure we can disagree with some actions but right now the most important item for us who believe that taking the war to the terrorists is the correct action is to support President Bush. Anything that contributes to the noise of criticism he faces increases the odds of John Kerry winning.

That is completely unacceptable.

the pink flamingo

damn right,

  • Ive noticed no matter how hard ive tried to get liberal friends to address the question of taking the fight to the enemy instead of reacting from our shores they just cant stay on topic, in the end that is the core, the kernal of there whole oposition to bush. he took the fight to the enemy.

  • for some it is just more than they can take that a republican did it, therefore no matter what they will belittle and criticize the effort,

  • for others they will never accept the projection of american power to offensively defend itself (the best defense is an offense) they are inherintly anti american when it comes to military action and dont even know it,

  • and the last group is a combination of those traits but has one even worse force driving them, the desire to see us fail because they believe we are responsible for all that is wrong in the world. these self haters are the traitorous dregs of our society. they beleive we deserve all that befalls us and we brought it on ourselves, we are the greatest evil on the planet

  • put all of these people together and you have a peace rally....

    or the democratic convention....

    and we want to reward them with a state?

    the culture of death. how is israel to have peace with them when they know no peace amongst themselves

    Yasser Arafat has turned his Western-financed security forces into tools of oppression that call to mind the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein, reports Geostrategy-Direct, the global intelligence news service

    Arafat has taken a page from Saddam's book and instead of paying decent salaries, implicitly encourages security officers to rob, pillage, rape and even kill ordinary Palestinians who get in their way.

    New evidence of the methods and abuses of the Palestinian security agencies is presented in a new report by the Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group, perhaps the only Palestinian group that has actually monitored Palestinian human rights abuses. The report, "Intrafada, the Chaos of the Weapons," documents official Palestinian abuse of their own people and the transformation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip into a wasteland of violence.

    What do Palestinians do in such a hell? Those who can, run. The report said Christian migration has increased and cities with Christian majorities have been taken over by the Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Hamas and Jihad encourage this migration. They first target Christian women who don't dress according to Islamic norms. They also take over Christian homes for use in attacks against Israeli forces, particularly in the Bethlehem area.

    The report said 90 percent of what it termed "gang lawlessness" can be traced to people on the PA payroll. The report said Fatah operatives often bring their guns to a dispute between Palestinian neighbors.

    One of Fatah's favored and most feared tactics is the accusation of collaboration with Israel, a charge that can carry a sentence of death without trial. The PA or the terror gangs often swoop in to detain, torture and even kill a Palestinian accused of collaboration. No one bothers to investigate, even if Arafat orders a probe.

    Collaboration also provides an option to punish women. The accusation by a husband that his wife is a collaborator has a chilling affect on the family. Women who don't listen to their fathers have been accused of collaboration to ensure that they are killed. Fatah terrorists often rape and then kill women who refuse to marry them and later charge the victims with being collaborators.

    "Violence permeates the security forces, and it is worsened by legal confusions," the group said in a report. "Unless and until more accountability and order is introduced, the problem will remain and could worsen as PA control continues to deteriorate. Sometimes violence erupts between police members and loyalists of political factions."

    the enemy amongst us

    charles had this at LGF

    berkeley intifada

    these are just a few quotes from lecture/rally on campus in berkley by campus muslims.
    the article these come from touches on detailing relations on campus between islamists, leftwing radicals and the anti semitism and pure hate and fascism they display towards jewish students and oposing points of view.
    it is breathtakingly orwellian the way they physically attack opponents spit on them, shout them down knock them down all the while calling the people they rage against and attack (most of whom are jewish) nazis.

    all that and more while delighting in busloads of israelis being blown up, they practically foam at the mouth. they are legion on the campus and rading the whole article was chilling.

    here are a few quoted passages but all four pages need to be read this is the tip of the iceberg:

    "We must be in power," Ali continued coolly. He rounded up his lecture by promising that "when it's all over, the only one standing is gonna be us."

    "Allahu akbar."

    "We ain't gonna lose. We must implement Islam as a totality," in which "Allah controls every place -- the home, the classroom, the science lab, the halls of Congress."

    The weekend concluded with an evening program called "Muslim Students in the Struggle." A few officers and alumni took turns at the podium; one young man speculated about the day "when we are called upon to rock the West like it's never been rocked before." This is inevitable, he said. "Allah has promised the people that they will inherit this land."

    "Allahu akbar,"

    came a chorus.

    Abdel Malik Ali also returned one final time, prodding the young crowd to "work on building Islamic infrastructures in the USA now.

    " He allowed: "There will be some poop-butts who will not want to live under sharia law and will leave.

    anger hat on now.

    first off im not a poopbutt, I wipe quite well thankyou, second I am armed to the teeth and I aint going anywhere you koranimal motherfucker. you wanna take this country for isalm & sharia? I wanna see you try..... cause then I will know where to aim, (center mass)

    I will never allow myself or my family or my country live under sharia and I will fight too the islamofascist's death to keep that from happening.

    Reuters is giving lessons in how to lie out your ass like it was a megaphone.

    original fabrication,.. I mean "report"

    Military shrugs off attack on wedding party (lets start with the title, el reuters shows thier true colors by taking sides and declaring it a wedding party. how the fuck would they know? they dont even pretend to be unbiased anymore no "alleged" no "purported" no caveat that one side says it was a "wedding party. fuckers)

    May 22, 2004

    Falluja: A US Marines general says he has no need to apologise for an attack in the remote Iraqi desert that killed about 40 people, who witnesses say included women and children celebrating a wedding. (the sneaky way this is worded is to put the smaller number of dead consisting of some women and possibly some children, out front and ignore who the majority of the dead were, which as you read on is done clearly to obfuscate the fact they were jihaadi combatants. since these morons travel and make war with thier women and children its unfortunately true that these noncombatant camp followers may be killed along with thier lunatic extremist husbands.)

    "How many people go to the middle of the desert 10 miles [16 kilometres] from the Syrian border to hold a wedding 80 miles from the nearest civilisation?" Major-General James Mattis, commander of the 1st Marine Division, which operates in western Iraq, said in Falluja.

    "These were more than two dozen military-age males. Let's not be naive."

    Asked about witness testimony and footage from Dubai-based Al Arabiya television that showed weeping relatives lowering bodies, one of a child, into graves, he said: "I have not seen the pictures but bad things happen in wars. I don't have to apologise for the conduct of my men." (I would be even more blunt and say arab tv cannot be trusted to air legitimate footage it was probably file footage cut together with interviews with jihaadi's for propaganda purposes)

    US military officers said they would open an investigation into the ground and air assault, which has produced sharply conflicting accounts. (of course the accounts are sharply conflicting but the fact that the majority of the dead are reported as men doesnt jive with the account from the "eyewittnesses below saying the they were mostly women and children,, really when does a wedding consist mostly of women and children and they are all up"partying at three in the morning, with rifles sat phones loads of cash and foriegn passports)

    Witnesses near the village of Makr al-Deeb, in the desert near the Syrian border, told television crews that a US military aircraft strafed innocent people, mostly women and children,(how could it be mostly women and children here, but in other news accounts footage show only a handfull of bodies reported as women or children?) at a wedding party. However, US military officers maintain that the target was a way station used by armed foreign insurgents who cross the porous border into Iraq.(which is more beleivable since army scouts had to have been spying on it)

    Brigadier-General Mark Kimmitt, deputy director of operations for the US military in Iraq, said an investigation was "the only prudent thing to do" because of the gravity of allegations made by people interviewed on television.

    Among those killed in the attack were "34 to 35 men" and "less than a handful of women", General Kimmitt said in Baghdad. US ground troops stayed at the site "for an extensive period of time", he said, and did not find any dead children among the casualties.(better bury this at the bottom, it conflicts with rueters asscertion in the title that it was "fur shur a wedding party"

    General Kimmitt said the ground forces were attacked and returned fire. He did not directly answer a question about whether foreign fighters were the only people killed.

    Witnesses said the attack was on a house where a wedding had been held and killed 41 people. (I think they said this allready a couple of times but hey you cant spread a lie to replace the truth unless you say it loud and say it often. so better wrap the bottom in the lie just like the title.)

    cnn of all places reports details that start to fill in the blanks

    A senior coalition military spokesman said Saturday that dozens of people killed in a U.S. attack in the Iraqi desert early Wednesday were attending a high-level meeting of foreign fighters, not a wedding. Photos shown to reporters in Baghdad support that contention.

    Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt said six women were among the dead, but he said there was no evidence any children died in the raid near the Syrian border. Coalition officials have said as many as 40 people were killed. Kimmitt said video showing dead children killed was actually recorded in Ramadi, far from the attack scene.

    "There may have been some kind of celebration," Kimmitt said. "Bad people have celebrations too. Bad people have parties too." Kimmitt said troops did not find anything -- such as a wedding tent, gifts, musical instruments, decorations or leftover food -- that would indicate a wedding had been held.

    Most of the men there were of military age, and there were no elders present to indicate a family event, he said. What was found, he said, indicated the building was used as a way station for foreign fighters crossing into Iraq from Syria to battle the coalition.

    "The building seemed to be somewhat of a dormitory," Kimmitt said. "You had over 300 sets of bedding gear in it. You had a tremendous number of pre-packaged clothing -- apparently about a hundred sets of pre-packaged clothing. "[It is] expected that when foreign fighters come in from other countries, they come to this location, they change their clothes into typical Iraqi clothing sets."

    At Saturday's briefing for reporters in Baghdad, Kimmitt showed photos of what he said were binoculars designed for adjusting artillery fire, battery packs suitable for makeshift bombs, several terrorist training manuals, medical gear, fake ID cards and ID card-making machines, passports and telephone numbers to other countries, including Afghanistan and Sudan. None of the men killed in the raid carried ID cards or wallets, he said. "We feel that that was an indicator that this was a high risk meeting of high-level anti-coalition forces," Kimmitt said. "There was a tremendous number of incriminating pocket litter, a lot of telephone numbers to foreign countries, Afghanistan, Sudan and a number of others."

    firearms

    lately ive noticed threads about firearms or threads that have devolved into the issue.

    so I figured I would post about the issue. but I am not going to belabour the argument for or against, (im pro gun)

    instead im going to do some reviews on good firearm buy's.

    the first one is the makarov.

    a semi auto pistol produced in the old east bloc countries and russia. it is an exellent buy, with many avenues to aquire it around 190 bucks or less (I paid 130 for mine)

    it is accurate to an amazing degree. mine were both equal in quality to some of the 600 dollar guns ive seen out there. it makes a fine little self defense gun.

    it has a variety of add ons for the enthusiast and are all reasonably priced. it has an interesting history as the side arm for the soviet military, and many east bloc countries.

    here is a write up: makarov faqs

    Pistolet Makarova (or PM) - Soviet Makarov combat pistol.
    You can sum up the Pistolet Makarova in three little words - "simple and reliable."
    It has served the armed forces of the (defunct) USSR for something like 40 years now - that is a testimonial that is worth something. The (former) Soviets had their problems, but they didn't scrimp on their weapon systems.

    Nikolai Fedorovich Makarov was 31 at the end of World War II when the Soviet Union called for the design of a new combat service pistol in 7.62 or 9mm. Rather than using the .380ACP or 9mmParabellum, Makarov designed a new round, the 9x18mmMakarov. This round is cylindrical like the .380ACP but has the same head diameter as the tapered 9mmParabellum, necessitating a larger 9.25mm bullet with a standard weight of 6 grams (92.5gr)

    The 9x18mmMakarov cartridge was developed to be up to 50% more powerful than the .380ACP. As such, it is about as powerful a round as can be used in a small pistol firing from a simple unlocked breech. Anything stronger would require so strong a spring to delay the slide's opening that the slide could not be pulled back my many people to load the pistol. Suggestion: look around and find an ASTRA 400 and try to cock it, you'll see what I mean.

    Production started in Russia in 1951 (or slightly earlier?), with China and East Germany following in the late 1950s. These guns are substantially identical except for markings.

    The Baikal IJ-70 is reliable as hell with the surplus GI ammo currently flooding the marketplace (95gr TMJ made at the famous TULA Ammunitions Factory, Russia), absolutely outstanding practice ammo. Best 'carry' ammo, IMHO, is the Hornady Custom 95gr XTP-HP. There's only one drawback with Ruskie GI ammo, it uses corrosive primer requiring cleaning of the weapon after each firing session. No big deal, it promotes good weapons familiarization.

    The Pistolet Makarova is widely available in the U.S.A. in both the original 9x18mmMakarov caliber and .380ACP. Speaking for myself I'm partial to the 9x18mm, however there are very good defensive commercial loads available for both calibers, Remington Golden Saber HPJ in .380ACP comes to mind. Some might find the recoil from the less-powerful .380ACP more to their liking. The .380ACP can be fired in the 9x18 chamber, in a survival situation only!(im going to chime in here, do not under any circumstances put any amo in any gun which are not intended to go together, no matter the situation, instead keep the proper amunition handy and forget what this author said, it is a recipe for disaster)

    The East German and Bulgarian Makarovs have the best reputation for fit and finish, though the newer Ruskie production models seem fine to me.

    The standard model uses 8-round straight-stack magazines
    This is a compact, blowback operation, double-action trigger and external hammer design similar to a Walther PP. The DA trigger pull is long and about 13 to 14 pounds. The SA trigger pull is *MUCH* better!

    The safety is of the de-cocking, hammer-block type and is moved up to the safe position and down to fire. The slide will not move when the safety is on. The hammer cannot contact the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled, even with the safety off.

    The accuracy is quite comparable to the Walther PP at less than half the cost. Some have reported 1.5" groups at 25 yards. The sights can be painted with white nail polish for better visability as night sights would cost as much as the original price

    here is a great customizer site for this fine little firearm.

    here's another faq's page this one from makarov.com

    and this site has a lot of info too makarovinfo.com

    and speaking of dogs I found this article fascinating.

    Researchers use DNA to uncover roots of the family trees' of dogs
    The study of canine genetics may help scientists answer questions about gene problems related to diseases in humans

    Friday, May 21, 2004
    ANDY DWORKIN

    The work showed that, as a species, dogs have about the same amount of genetic variation as people, Ostrander said. But there's a key difference: In dogs, a very large portion of the genetic difference falls along breed lines. That means that dog breeds are genetically distinct and can be easily categorized with DNA scans.

    Although breeds are genetically distinct, Ostrander and her colleagues found that some sets of breeds share enough genetic information to identify as a genetically linked grouping.

    The first group to emerge from that project is a set of dogs of Asian and African origin, from the wrinkly Shar-Pei to the thick-coated Alaskan malamute. These dogs are the most genetically similar to wolves, dogs' evolutionary ancestor, Ostrander said. In fact, the scientists included wolf DNA in the study, which statistically fit well with this group.

    The mastiff and related dogs fill the second grouping, Ostrander said. It includes the bulldog and boxer and large breeds such as the Rottweiler and Newfoundland. Surprisingly, the German shepherd also lumps with this group.

    The third genetically similar group includes many herding dogs, such as the Belgian sheepdog and collie, as well as Irish wolfhounds, greyhounds, borzois and Saint Bernards. The final group included dogs that have been bred relatively recently in Europe, mostly for hunting -- scent hounds, terriers, spaniels, pointers and retrievers.

    Genes revealed that at least three ancient-seeming breeds were actually re-created recently by breeding existing dogs to get an antique look: The Norwegian elkhound, pharaoh hound and Ibizan hound, the paper says.

    Combining such knowledge with the coming dog genome should help researchers decide which breeds or groups of breeds to study for the origins of traits, Ostrander said. For instance, someone looking for a unique gene in mastiffs could know that bullmastiffs are genetically very similar and apt for study.

    But with biologists' ark-full of rats, mice, fish, flies and monkeys to study, why study dogs at all? As the Science paper says, "The domestic dog is a genetic enterprise unique in human history."

    Purebred dogs arose from a few hundred years of rigorous inbreeding. That created a great differences between dogs -- just think of a Chihuahua and a Great Dane. But the short evolutionary time it took to separate breeds should mean relatively few genes have mutated to create those dramatic differences.

    In short, when scientists look at breed-specific traits, their related genes should be consistent within a breed but stand out fairly notably from dissimilar breeds -- like a person out of uniform in a marching band.

    Scientists try to use that genetic power in humans by screening families prone to genetic diseases. But humans interbreed so much that large, genetically distinct families are hard to find -- not a problem for purebreds.

    "To be a registered poodle, your parents had to be registered poodles, and their parents had to be registered poodles," Ostrander said.

    are muslims or islam ever responsible for anything? Apparently not.....

    I saw this first at occams toothbrush

    Andrew C. McCarthy
    Hearts and Minds
    We shouldn’t bother trying so hard.

    You probably thought Nick Berg was slaughtered by Islamic militants, didn't you?

    Just because, in an Arab country teeming with jihadists who target Americans every day, an American got butchered by hooded assassins who read a proclamation of grievances, laced with allusions to Islam, in Arabic, before hacking his head off while his shrieking agony was drowned out by that now-familiar soundtrack of atrocity, the Allahu akbar ("God is great!") chant, you probably rushed to judgment, right? Just because the barbarians recorded their handiwork and the tape, voila, instantly ended up on a website that reliably promotes militant Islam, which bragged that the decapitation was executed by none other than Abu Musab Zarqawi — whose extensive jihadist rap sheet defies accurate accounting in our limited space — you no doubt found yourself leaping to the rash conclusion that Berg's killing was carried out by Muslim extremists.

    Fortunately, now comes al-Jazeera's Sam Hamod to straighten you out. Hamod, a 68-year-old Lebanese American (born in Indiana), is not only an esteemed member of the American academy — a retired professor at Princeton, Iowa, Howard, and Michigan Universities, according to one of his recent screeds — but also a poet, author, former director of the Islamic Center of Washington, D.C., and, according to his own assertion in several published stories, a former adviser to the United States Department of State. Never one to engage in bombast or draw extravagant conclusions on less than airtight proof, it was only about a week ago that we found Professor Hamod helpfully explaining how the Abu Ghraib prison abuse illustrated that...George W. Bush is not a real Christian. ("No matter what President Bush says about being a 'born again Christian,' I think he is a false witness to Christ, and that God will deal with Mr. Bush in this life and certainly in the next." To see the rest of this scintillating essay, entitled "A Muslim Leader Speaks Out", it is here ).

    Now he is back with a new piece: the "Muslim Perspective" on the Berg homicide. And what might that perspective be? Well, that Berg almost certainly was not killed by Muslims.

    Why? Because, you'll be comforted to know, Islam has strict rules about beheading, and they don't appear to have been followed in this case.

    read the rest to see these rules and the amazingly loony conspiracy he weaves.

    I love this post over at mypetjawa, very provocative

    should the press be censored?

    "Freedom of speech cannot mean the same thing in a time of war that it means in a time of peace. BRD over at Anticipatory Retaliation makes a similar point. Context. Context. Context! In times of peace we generally agree that it is NOT alright to kill people. In times of war we intentionally send our fellow citizens to kill and be killed. In both cases people die, but it is the context that changes the morality of their actions. Unless you are a pacifist, you must believe that killing is sometimes justified. In my book, killing someone else is probably the most severe thing you could possibly do. When we send our fellow troops into war we are asking them not only to kill others, but also to die. The decision to go to war must be a grave one because we are sentencing a certain unknown number of our sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and friends to death. Life is the most fundamental right given to man. If we can ask them to die in our place, why can they not ask us to censor what we say so that a few more of them may live? It seems odd that one is willing to take away our soldiers right to life, but not the press’s right to run stories that may get some of our soldiers killed."

    read the rest and the context he lays out

    does anyone believe this crap?

    Israel Defies World Outcry, Expands Gaza Offensive

    By Nidal al-Mughrabi

    RAFAH, Gaza Strip (Reuters) - Israel defied international fury at the killing of nearly 40 Palestinians in the Rafah refugee camp, a militant stronghold, to expand its bloodiest Gaza Strip raid in years on Thursday.

    The U.N. Security Council, convened at the behest of Arabs incensed at what they branded a "war crime," passed a resolution urging an end to violence after Israeli forces killed up to 10 Palestinians, many of them youths, at a peaceful protest.

    how many errors can we find in just the first paragraph or so?

    first problem, who cares what the international furor crowd thinks, they hate israel no matter what happens and I recall ABSOLUTELY NO INTERNATIONAL FURY WHEN A BUNCH OF PALEOSTINIAN ANIMALS MURDERED A PREGNANT MOTHER AND SHOT ALL HER CHILDREN POINT BLANK IN THIER FACES!!

    second problem the death count, typically rueters the shill for arabislam opolegetics, makes no attempt to give the fact that only about 8 were non combatants killed BECAUSE THEY WERE MARCHING IN A WAR ZONE WITH GUNMEN AROUND THEM! the rest were fucking terrorist scum killed fighting the IDF.

    third when has the UN ever convened to denounce arab palistinian violence and terrorism against jews??? fuck them.

    and finally peacefull protest?? come on does anyone believe that??? they throw molotove coctails, allow gunmen to shoot at israelis while standing amonst them, then cry crocodile tears when someone being used as a hman shield gets hurt. the violence will end when the arabs love thier children more than they hate the jews... aaahh hell let me expand that the violence will end when muslims love instead of hate.

    UPDATE: charles of LGF had this-

    palistinian terrorists deliberatly kill palistinian children
    An official IDF source confirmed Amir Orens’ 21 May story this afternoon to IMRA that two Palestinian children who died in the Rafah procession incident were murdered by Palestinian gunmen and that the IDF photographed the shooting.

    wow.

    my what big teeth you have grandma....

    or~~~ the wolf in wedding party clothing....

    I went over to the command post and spotted this news.
    BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Pentagon officials Wednesday denied alleged eyewitness reports of a U.S. attack on a wedding party in a remote area of western Iraq that killed innocent civilians.

    "Our report is that this was not a wedding party, that these were anti-coalition forces that fired first, and that U.S. troops returned fire, destroying several vehicles, and killing a number of them," a Pentagon spokesman said.

    He was responding to a video distributed by The Associated Press showing Iraqi witnesses who said that at least 20 people were killed and five others critically wounded early Wednesday when planes fired on a wedding celebration.

    dress it up and call it a wedding party....

    a wedding party firing on U.S. ground and air, forces

    a wedding party in the middle of no where, but straddling a major smuggling route for arms and jihaadis

    a wedding party with sat phones huge amounts of cash, amunition and foriegn passports.

    the enemy is mastering the art of the big lie. and jeffers at the command post details his suspicions

    "It’s obviously a setup.

    Consider, satcom radios, clearly not a part of a wedding, plus small arms, and on the other hand, digital images of kids with a coherent wedding story right after the fact.

    Can’t have both without a plan in advance.

    They want us to stop interdicting the smuggling of men and materiel across the Syrian border."

    Mark Jones hits the big lie head on with this characterization

    I see that the “Iraqi” “rebels” have learned well from their Palestinean cohorts. Every lost battle is a massacre, an unprovoked, unexplainable act of random viciousness; every dead splodeydope (or fellow traveler, supplier, etc.) is a harmless, helpless, hapless victim of undeserved villification and murder. ‘Cause, you know, weddings always happen at 2:45 a.m. in remote areas known for smuggling…in houses found to contain weapons, Syrian cash and other wedding tackle.

    In case it ain’t obvious to the hard-of-thinking, I don’t believe them for an instant.

    and neither do I

    Last year, Franco-US relations were at a low. What's it like to be an American in Cannes this year? By B Ruby Rich

    Wednesday May 19, 2004
    The Guardian

    Michael Moore: 'He's made it enjoyable to be an American in Cannes for the first time in memory.' (gag, hack, phewi))

    The Cannes film festival has always been a difficult destination for Americans. Pathetically monolingual, we rarely speak enough French to defend ourselves against the chorus of "C'est interdit", the words of prohibition that block the effort to walk up the grand staircase to the Palais. Then there's the damnable French taste in films, so worshipful of auteurism, art and craft, so seemingly disdainful of the industrial formulae of contemporary Hollywood, apart from a love for some of its stars.
    Of course, for all the grumbling, Americans mostly just want to be accepted. That's been a harder task than ever, though, since the start of the war in Iraq and the bold French decision to abstain from the Anglo-American adventure. Last year, bad blood boiled: "freedom fries" were on offer in the US Congress cafeteria and, at Cannes, Americans who braved the Atlantic to show up at the festival tended to slink around.

    Still, there's always been a counter-swell of Americans that have come to the Croisette to be discovered, from this year's jury president Quentin Tarantino, bad boy made good by winning a Palme d'Or, to the latest Palme d'Or aspirant, Michael Moore.

    The prospect of seeing Moore's new film, Farenheit 911, as an American among the French was enough to send me halfway across the world on an unplanned trip into the maelstrom. Not least because the official screening of Fahrenheit 911 on Monday climaxed a feverish publicity campaign, orchestrated by Moore, over Disney's decision to force subsidiary Miramax to drop his film from distribution. Would the film measure up to expectations? More importantly, what would the French make of this Dear George opus?

    Well, there was no anti-American greeting for this American from the heartland bearing the good news that Bush is bad news. Moore arrived late for the screening, turned before entering the sacred gates and waved to the crowd. Or was it a salute? The crowd roared back its approval, a wild welcome that was repeated by the crowd inside the Palais.

    Michael Moore~~~~ european asshats love me they really really love me! all that I had to do was be a socialist, turn on my own country, lie about our president during a war, forget we were attacked on 911 and pretend we have invaded afghanistan and iraq to enrich bush cronies instead of ensuring the saftey of america by taking the fight to our enemies. I will do anything to advance my political agenda! including calling terrorists and insurgents in iraq killing american soldiers and iraqi civillians freedom fighters! how could the europeans not love me?

    and to paint a fuller picture of this noxious asshole, he not only hates the president he hates america, here are a sample of what he thinks about hard working average small bussiness owners just like people in your town.

    quote:You know in my town the small businesses that everyone wanted to protect? They were the people that supported all the right-wing groups. They were the Republicans in the town, they were in the Kiwanas, the Chamber of Commerce - people that kept the town all white. The small hardware salesman, the small clothing store salespersons, Jesse the Barber who signed his name three different times on three different petitions to recall me from the school board. Fuck all these small businesses - fuck 'em all! Bring in the chains. The small businesspeople are the rednecks that run the town and suppress the people. Fuck 'em all. That's how I feel."end quote

    and he puts his money where his mouth is by saying fuck you american web designers when he outsourced his web site to a canadian company. fuckin hypocrite.

    update: and moving right along to the newest revelation that moore is a liar, moore is a lying asswipe, moore is a lying hypocritical crapweasil, is this from fred barnes editor of the weekly standard.

    Michael Moore and Me

    by Fred Barnes
    05/31/2004,

    A FEW YEARS AGO Michael Moore, who's now promoting an anti-President Bush movie entitled Fahrenheit 9/11, announced he'd gotten the goods on me, indeed hung me out to dry on my own words. It was in his first bestselling book, Stupid White Men. Moore wrote he'd once been "forced" to listen to my comments on a TV chat show, The McLaughlin Group. I had whined "on and on about the sorry state of American education," Moore said, and wound up by bellowing: "These kids don't even know what The Iliad and The Odyssey are!"

    Moore's interest was piqued, so the next day he said he called me. "Fred," he quoted himself as saying, "tell me what The Iliad and The Odyssey are." I started "hemming and hawing," Moore wrote. And then I said, according to Moore: "Well, they're . . . uh . . . you know . . . uh . . . okay, fine, you got me--I don't know what they're about. Happy now?" He'd smoked me out as a fraud, or maybe worse.

    The only problem is none of this is true. It never happened. Moore is a liar. He made it up. It's a fabrication on two levels. One, I've never met Moore or even talked to him on the phone. And, two, I read both The Iliad and The Odyssey in my first year at the University of Virginia. Just for the record, I'd learned what they were about even before college. Like everyone else my age, I
    got my classical education from the big screen. I saw the Iliad movie called Helen of Troy and while I forget the name of the Odyssey film, I think it starred Kirk Douglas as Odysseus.

    So why didn't I scream bloody murder when the book came out in 2001? I didn't learn about the phony anecdote until it was brought to my attention by Alan Wolfe, who was reviewing Moore's book for the New Republic. He asked, by email, if the story were true. I said no, not a word of it, and Wolfe quoted me as saying that. That was enough, I thought. After all, who would take a shrill, lying lefty like Moore seriously?

    More people than I thought. Moore's new movie attacking Bush was given a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. Moore has described the movie as breaking new ground and revealing new facts, but the accounts by reviewers suggest it merely provides the standard left-wing, conspiratorial critique of the president. Reviewer Lou Lumenick of the New York Post, who gave Moore's previous movie Bowling for Columbine four stars, said the anti-Bush film would be news only "if you spent the last three years hiding in a cave in Afghanistan." Still, I suppose it's not surprising they loved it in France.

    "I think we should point out here, that, that there really is only one weapon of mass destruction, that's a nuclear bomb. Uh, I have to say that in my book, and I'm not an expert but, uh, artillery shells don't really count."

    the rest of the spin and lies at Melanie Phillips's Diary

    so at this point no matter how much sarin we find or mustard gas we find now only a nuke will fit the bill to disprove that "bush lied"

    fucktards...

    and From OpinionJournal.com

    Best of the Web Today james taranto observes the twisted logic, half truths ommissions and outright lies from you guessed it *phewi* the new york times

    'Very Small Traces'

    "Imagine if some malicious prankster were to make his way into the offices of the New York Times, find editorial page editor Gail Collins, and pour a gallon of milk over her head. Then imagine if he defended himself by saying he had used only "very small traces" of milk.

    Bizarre as it may sound, that's the tack the Times is taking toward the discovery earlier this week of an artillery shell containing sarin in Iraq. Although, as we noted yesterday, the volume of the sarin is between three quarts and a gallon, the Times insists that field tests found only "very small traces of sarin."

    The Times continues protesting Saddam Hussein's innocence, suggesting that he did away with his weapons in "a large-scale destruction program" from which only "some residual weapons" may have "escaped"--never mind that U.N. resolutions obliged Saddam to destroy all his weapons and to document their destruction.

    Anyway, the Times says, maybe this sarin doesn't really exist. "At this point no one can be certain whether the artillery shell rigged as a roadside bomb really did contain deadly sarin and, if so, what significance that may have."

    That's funny, we seem to remember reading somewhere that "the discovery of the sarin-filled shell appears to offer some of the most substantial evidence to date that Mr. Hussein did not destroy all of the banned chemical agent, as he claimed before the war last year." Where was that again?

    Oh yes, in the New York Times! But as we noted yesterday, the paper buried the sarin story on page 11. We suppose Collins and her staff can't be troubled to read that deeply into their own paper."

    SARIN AND SHELL HAD TO BE POST DESERT STORM MANUFACTURE

    or the other title~~~ the left is lying to you day and night trying to lull you back to sleep and hoping all you will remember is the mantra they keep pounding into you, there are no wmd's "bush lied there are no wmd's bush lied, there are no wmd's bush lied you are growing sleepy when you awake all that you will know is that buuuush lied..."

    the detective work you probably will never hear from the mainstream media (which has already started to cover it up)has been done at blasters blog and the conclusions are ominous

    Binary munitions undeclared

    "Iraq never declared any binary 155mm artillery shells. In fact, they never claimed any filled with sarin at all in the UNSCOM Final report (Find on "Munitions declared by Iraq as remaining"). Not declared as existing at the end of the Gulf War, not having been destroyed in the Gulf War, not having been destroyed unilaterally. The only binary munitions claimed by the Iraqis were aerial bombs and missile warheads. Not in an artillery shell."

    According to this UNSCOM factsheet (PDF):

    Iraqi CW agents were not comparable in quality to those stored in the arsenals of the USA and the former USSR, however. Impurities meant that the toxic compounds lacked stability and easily decomposed; as a consequence, Iraq developed a crude type of binary munition, whereby the final mixing of the two precursors to the agent was done inside the munition just before delivery. This had a major impact on the logistics of and preparations for chemical warfare, which may partly explain how overwhelming coalition air superiority prevented the use of CW during Operation Desert Storm

    junkyard blog weighs in:

    "That's according to UNSCOM's 1998 factsheet on Iraq's WMDs, so it can't be spun as Bush propaganda unless you want to propose that he time-travelled back a few years to plant this document. Though Iraq never declared that it even possessed such a shell in any UN report, 155 mm mustard gas shells did turn up after the Gulf War, as did 122 mm binary sarin shells. Iraq had the technology to manufacture these chemical shells in country, and could convert pesticide factories to produce sarin without much fuss.

    So...we have an Iraqi WMD that was previously unknown, even after a decade of sanctions and searches and shooting wars, turning up in the hands of terrorists. Do you think there are more like this one out there? Do you think the LA Slimes and other "mainstream" press outlets will investigate any of this stuff?"

    blasters blog lays out how the major medias have allready started to lie, put words in peoples mouths that were never said, and generally weave a web of deciet to cover thier ass's.

    this shell was production manufactered in iraq, it was not an experimental round or a one of a kind. it was by all evidence manufactured after the gulf war under the noses of the weapons inspectors.
    and this post by blaster also explains why this is huge news

    the left and their transparent lies...

    I saw this at brainsters blog and it just oozed a lie to appear like a a more reasonable person whos opinion should carry whieght. I had to thrash it, and as a former military man myself I want to say I dont believe this yahoo for one moment.

    here is the letter:

    Praise for Ted Rall

    Published: May 06, 2004

    I couldn't agree more with Ted Rall's cartoon questioning Pat Tillman's hero credentials. (See "Ralls' 'Tillman' Cartoon Pulled by MSNBC.com".)

    I am a combat veteran of Vietnam and the first Gulf war and retired Army chief warrant officer. My military service and duty to America spanned over 32 years. I also have a son that just recently returned from a year's combat service in Iraq.

    I stand strongly on my belief that I have a right to protect my family, property, and borders of this country. However, I have no right (and neither does my son) to kill and murder for government.

    How ignorant and absurd many Americans believe that the conflict we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, some 6,000 miles away, have something to do with protecting our freedoms (what's left of them).

    That's not to say that I do not grieve for Mr. Tillman's family. I grieve for all the families that have lost loved ones. I grieve for those that have returned wounded and disfigured.

    How ignorant for people to believe that Mr. Tillman's voluntary service, regardless of consequences, would not attract media attention. I just wish that the Pentagon would share the same philosophy and permit viewing of the caskets that endlessly arrive from the administration's desire for world dominance and empire.

    In the first days of the Iraq war, I wrote a media release message in the event my son got killed in this senseless and unlawful war. In the press release, I asked that no one, absolutely no one, make reference to my son as a hero, patriot, or a sacrifice for freedom and security.

    Rather, I asked that my son be remembered as an American citizen that was lied to when he took his enlistment oath into the military. He swore to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. This he would do, even unto his death if required. The Iraq war has nothing to do with supporting and defending the Constitution.

    here is my opinion of this asshats credibility:

    thats the most twisted left wing logic ive read in a while,

    I dont beleive he is who he says he is.

    anyone who would say this~~~

    "How ignorant and absurd many Americans believe that the conflict we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, some 6,000 miles away, have something to do with protecting our freedoms"

    doesnt have the critical thinking skills to have ever reached the rank he claimed to have reached, and anyone who has spent a life time in the military ready to do his duty when called wouldnt have this bizzare outlook on life or the military or the projection of power for the saftey of the nation. and most certainly wouldnt have a son in the millitary.

    this guy is lying out his ass to appear to be one of the unwashed masses.

    and what did this clown think 911 was?

    it was a military strike at our nation by an entity that had declared war on us and was being given safe haven and sponsorship by the "government" of afghansitan 6000 miles away. that base of operations had to be denied to al qaida and the war had to be taken to them instead of defensively cowering at the edge of our own shores.

    the president warned that a war would be prosecuted unless they turned al-qaida over. they refused.

    no right minded person doesnt understands this reality and this chronology

    and he is neither of right mind nor of the capability to ever have spent a lifetime with the self discipline of giving and following orders...

    Vet: Officers told Kerry to leave Vietnam
    From The American Thinker via World Net Daily
    (excerpt):

    Thomas Wright was one of John F. Kerry’s fellow Swift boat officers in Vietnam. Since Wright outranked Kerry, he was Kerry’s sometime boat group Officer-in-Charge, so Wright had occasion to observe Kerry’s behavior and attitudes, .

    When John Kerry radioed another Swift boat, he used the call sign, “Boston Strangler …

    Working with call sign “Boston Strangler” became problematical. “I had a lot of trouble getting him to follow orders,” recalls Wright. “He had a different view of leadership and operations. Those of us with direct experience working with Kerry found him difficult and oriented towards his personal, rather than unit goals and objectives. I believed that overall responsibility rested squarely on the shoulders of the OIC or OTC in a free-fire zone. You had to be right (before opening fire). Kerry seemed to believe there were no rules in a free-fire zone and you were supposed to kill anyone. I didn’t see it that way.”

    Then Wright and like-minded boat officers took matters into their own hands. “When he got his third Purple Heart, three of us told him to leave. We knew how the system worked and we didn’t want him in Coastal Division 11. Kerry didn’t manipulate the system, we did.”

    charles at LGF had this~~

    The War that Dare Not Speak Its Name
    The battle is against militant Islam, not “Terror”

    By Andrew C. McCarthy

    As an assistant U.S. attorney, time and time again I heard it over the last decade, from ordinary Muslims we reached out to for help — people we wanted to hire as Arabic translators, or who were potential witnesses, or who were simply in a position to provide helpful information. People who were as far from being terrorists as you could possibly be. “I’d like to help the government,” they would say, “but I can’t.” And it was not so much about their safety — although there was, no doubt, some of that going on. It was about ostracism.

    Repeatedly they’d tell us that the militant factions dominated their communities. These elements were usually not the most numerous, but they were the most vocal, the best networked, the best funded, and the most intimidating. Consequently, people whose patriotic instinct was to be helpful could not overcome the fear that they and their families could be blackballed if it became known that they had helped the United States prosecute Muslim terrorists. The militants had the kind of suasion that could turn whole communities into captive audiences.

    This is no small matter. Events of the last decade, throughout the world, are a powerful lesson that the more insular and dominated communities become, the more they are likely to breed the attitudes and pathologies that lead to terrorist plots and suicide bombings. It’s true that suicide bombers seem to defy precise psychological profiling; they come from diverse economic and educational backgrounds — the only common thread seems to be devotion to militant Islam. But while we have not had success predicting who is likely to become a suicide bomber, it is far easier to get a read on where suicide bombers and other terrorists will come from. They come from communities where the militants dominate and those who don’t accept their beliefs are cowed into submission.

    That militant Islam is our enemy is a fact. That it is the object of our war is a fact. That we need to empower real moderates is a fact. And we need to talk about these facts.

    We are not helping the authentic moderates if we avoid having the conversation that so needs to be had if the militants hiding in the weeds we’ve created are going to be exposed and marginalized. If we fail to be critical, if we fail to provoke that discussion, it will continue to be militants who hold positions of influence and who control indoctrination in communities, madrassas, prisons, and other settings where the young, the vulnerable, and the alienated are searching for direction.

    WMD'S USED AS AN IMPROVISED BOMB IN BAGHDAD, SARIN FOUND

    SEE HOW FAST THE LIBERAL MEDIA DISCOUNTS IT...

    Bomb With Sarin Nerve Agent Explodes in Iraq
    Two Treated for Minor Exposure; No Serious Injuries Reported
    By CHRISTOPHER TORCHIA, AP

    BAGHDAD, Iraq (May 17) -- A roadside bomb containing deadly sarin nerve agent exploded near a U.S. military convoy, the U.S. military said Monday. It was believed to be the first confirmed finding of any of the banned weapons upon which the United States based its case for the Iraq war.

    Two people were treated for ''minor exposure,'' but no serious injuries were reported.

    The deadly chemical was inside an artillery shell dating to the Saddam Hussein era that had been rigged as a bomb in Baghdad, said Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, the chief military spokesman in Iraq.

    The Bush administration cited allegations that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction as a main reason for launching the war in Iraq last year, but no evidence of such weapons has been found.

    Since the war ended, the U.S.-led coalition has found several caches that tested positive for mustard gas but later turned out to contain missile fuel or other chemicals.

    WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!!! they called them insecticides instead of nerve agents but why were they found in an underground camoflaged bunker next to an armements factory? why were mustard gas residues found puluting the euphrates? what do you call the organic toxins found hidden in a scientists home in small vials? and what is this shell filled with sarin???? no evidence????? bang bang bang bang (sound of me hitting head on desk...)

    update: fox reporting that at least 1 gallon of sarin was in this shell.

    a call to kill all non-Muslims

    Berg video called how-to-kill demo
    Translator-expert sees jihadist message to Muslims worldwide

    Posted: May 17, 2004
    1:00 a.m. Eastern

    © 2004 WorldNetDaily.com

    The Arabic message accompanying the video images of the beheading of 26-year-old Nick Berg by terrorists in Iraq is being described by a translator and expert in Islam and the Quran as a "how-to" training tape for the murder of non-Muslims by other terrorists around the globe, Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin reports.

    Whether President Bush is right and the assassin and speaker is al-Qaida ally Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Joel Cohen, with a master's degree in Semitic languages from Princeton University and a student of the Quran at the University of Chicago, translated and analyzed the speech delivered following the killing – explaining it is a call for similar acts of slaughter against infidels. The grisly film included a statement, signed off with Zarqawi's name.

    The CIA last week said Zarqawi was probably the one who beheaded Berg.

    "The author of the text makes reference to the ‘patience' of slaughtering," Cohen tells G2 Bulletin, the premium, online intelligence newsletter published by the founder of WorldNetDaily. "Nick Berg is just an example."

    While parts of the video of the gruesome murder of the American radio tower contractor have been broadcast internationally, strangely the Arabic message accompanying it has not been scrutinized by the Western media. While many have heard Berg introduce himself and his family, fewer have heard the longer, Arabic-language message from the killers.

    Cohen points out that, surprisingly, the message has little to do with Berg.

    "The author goes at great pains to convince the Ummah (the body of Muslim believers) that the time for negotiations with unbelievers is over," explains Cohen, who adds the address was carefully crafted rather than delivered impromptu.

    He believes the author of the text is an imam or scholar or someone who studied in a maddrassa.

    "Are you not fed up with the jihad of the conferences and the battles of giving sermons?" the speaker said. "Has the time not come for you to lift the sword with which the master of the messengers was sent?"

    Cohen believes this reference to Islamic conferences is ridiculing the notion that holy war can be waged with sermons and teachings alone.

    "He uses this as a pun," suggests Cohen. "Jihad is supposed to be for the purpose of killing the non-believers and the scholars are using it simply to kill their own ideas. The battles of giving sermons is another pun: The scholars are putting the battle in words when it needs to be in real life in their hands."

    Cohen continues: "This is a full call to arms: Lift the sword. The 'master of the messengers' refers to Allah, that is, in the writers mind all the messengers of the past were given the ability to fight the non believers and so to the Ummah has it today."

    "And we hope, that you will not place yourself in a dilemma (after seeing) what we will do, as you usually do to please the American," continues the Arabic speaker in the tape..

    Cohen believes he is clearly offering direction about the way of jihad today – through the example of beheading Berg.

    The author introduces his soliloquy by demonstrating he is not nationalistic in his approach, but rather honoring Islam, says Cohen. It is a religious salutation – one designed to show he sees himself as a champion of Allah.

    He cites Surah Al Tawbah 9.5 of the Quran, a verse dealing with the battle between the Mushriq (non-believers or pagans) and the Ansar (believers), says Cohen. He is addressing only the Ummah, the body of Muslim believers. It is not a message for non-Muslims.

    "What is about to be shown is for their benefit," Cohen explains.

    It is a message of rejoicing, glad tidings and jubilation, not one of anger, he says.

    "The tide has turned, and like the battle of Badr, where Muslims were outnumbered, Allah has given them victory," he says. "Two reasons are given for this rejoicing: The daylight has now come forth, and the winds of victory have come upon them."

    All the glory is given to Allah in the message, Cohen says. The victory is at hand was predestined. The author of the message, he says, is aware that some in the Islamic world are uncomfortable with seeing pictures of Muslims tie bodies around cars and dragging them through the streets of Fallujah.

    "The author wishes to comfort those fears and explain that this all was planned in advance and that instead of being uncomfortable, people should rejoice," he says.

    The speaker also directly addresses young people in the maddrassas who are watching the jihad across the world – simply studying Islam on the sidelines and not joining in the killing.

    finish the rest of the translation

    so its exactly as I said in previous posts it is being billed as a human sacrifice to thier demi-god and they want all muslims to identify with them and start a massive human sacrifice, because its what thier "god" wants.

    :message to muslims, dont beleive these savages, they would have you beleive god wants you to engulf the world in a war to murder a billion people because they dont worship the same as you do. if you are a person of goodwill towards your fellow man this message must be recognized as what it is, a message from satan. only satan would want this kind of carnage and human sacrifice. not the god of abraham, moses, jesus.

    brainwashing machines

    go here to buy the book brainwashed

    When parents send their children off to college, mom and dad hope they'll return more cultivated, knowledgeable, and astute -- able to see issues from all points of view. But, according to author Ben Shapiro, there's only one view allowed on most college campuses: a rabid brand of liberalism that must be swallowed hook, line, and sinker.

    In this explosive book, Shapiro, a college student himself, reveals how America's university system is one of the largest brainwashing machines on the planet. Examining this nationwide problem from firsthand experience, Shapiro shows how the leftists who dominate the universities -- from the administration to the student government, from the professors to the student media -- use their power to mold impressionable minds.

    Fresh and bitterly funny, this book proves that the universities, far from being places for open discussion, are really dungeons of the mind that indoctrinate students to become socialists, atheists, race-baiters, and narcissists.

    window unto the iraqi general we have working in faluja

    Iraqi General Urges Support of U.S. Troops

    Sun May 16,
    By KATARINA KRATOVAC, Associated Press Writer

    FALLUJAH, Iraq - A former Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)-era general appointed by the Americans to lead an Iraqi security force in the rebellious Sunni stronghold of Fallujah urged tribal elders and sheiks Sunday to support U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq (news - web sites).

    retired Maj. Gen. Mohammed Abdul-Latif rose to prominence after nearly monthlong battles last month between the Marines monthlong battles in April between the Marines and insurgents hunkered down in Fallujah's neighborhoods.

    "We can make them (Americans) use their rifles against us or we can make them build our country, it's your choice," Latif told a gathering of more than 40 sheiks, city council members and imams in an eastern Fallujah suburb.

    The siege of this city of 200,000 people, located about 40 miles west of Baghdad, was lifted when top Marine officers announced the creation of the Fallujah Brigade — a force made exclusively of former Iraqi army officers.

    The Marines withdrew from Fallujah into the rural hinterland and far-flung suburbs, allowing the Iraqi force to take up positions and start patrols inside the city. The brigade is expected to number about 1,500 men, many of them conscripts or noncommissioned officers under Saddam.

    They are expected to fight the guerrillas, although some of the same insurgents who fought the Marines last month will likely join the brigade.

    On Sunday, Marines of the 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment provided security for the gathering in Kharma.

    Latif, 66, a native of Baghdad, urged the elders to talk freely, citing the Muslim holy book, the Quran.

    "The Quran says we should sit together, discuss and make a decision, but let it be the right decision," the silver-haired Latif — a slim figure wearing a blue shirt and dark blue tie and pants — told the sheiks.

    The venue offered a rare insight into Latif's interactions and influence over Fallujah elders. As he spoke, many sheiks nodded in approval and listened with reverence to his words. Later, they clasped his hands and patted Latif on the back.

    Latif, speaking in Arabic to the sheiks, defended the Marines and the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

    "They were brought here by the acts of one coward who was hunted out of a rathole — Saddam — who disgraced us all," Latif said. "Let us tell our children that these men (U.S. troops) came here to protect us.

    "As President Bush (news - web sites) said, they did not come here to occupy our land but to get rid of Saddam. We can help them leave by helping them do their job, or we can make them stay ten years and more by keeping fighting."

    Lt. Col. Brennan Byrne, the Marine battalion commander, said, "No truer words have been spoken here today than those by General Latif."

    Latif also told the insurgents to "stop doing stupid things."

    "Those bullets that are fired will not get the Americans out, let them finish their job here so that they can return to their country," Latif said.

    "Our country is precious, stop allowing the bad guys to come from outside Iraq to destroy our country."

    Latif, a former military intelligence officer said to have been imprisoned by Saddam and exiled, praised the former Iraqi army.

    "The army used to be honest until Saddam made the men turn into beasts, take bribes, betray their own country," he said. "The real army is the army that works hard to serve its own citizens, with courage and strength."

How Far Up Does the Responsibility Go?” in the May 10 New Yorker magazine and “Chain of Command: How the Department of Defense Mishandled the Disaster at Abu Ghraib” in its May 17 issue.

    These articles, like much of his writing over three and a half decades, feature Hersh’s favorite villains – wrong-doing American soldiers, wicked American leaders and evil agents of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA.

    Before you swallow these stories whole, as if they were accurate and true, you ought to know more about this aging enfant terrible of American journalism.

    Hersh and his fraternal twin Alan were born in Chicago, Illinois on April 8, 1937. “His parents, who emigrated to the U.S. from Lithuania and Poland, spoke Yiddish and ran a dry-cleaning shop in a tough section of the city’s South Side,” wrote Scott Sherman in the Columbia Journalism Review (CJR). “Hersh, however, was raised in a more genteel section near Hyde Park.” Hersh described his parents to David Rubien of Salon.com as middle-class and apolitical. Seymour and Alan had two older sisters, also twins.

    By 1955 Hersh had already experimented with marijuana, read J.D. Salinger and watched controversial comedian Lenny Bruce at a Chicago club. A poor student, Hersh in 1958 eked out a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Chicago. While there he met his future wife Elizabeth Sarah Klein, with whom he would have three children.

    Trying to find his way in life, Hersh “was admitted to the University of Chicago Law School,” wrote Sherman, “but was expelled for poor grades.” He worked at Walgreens drug store for $1.50 an hour, but then took a $35 per week job reporting on crime for Chicago’s City News Bureau. After a brief stint in the Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, he in 1961 founded a short-lived suburban Chicago newspaper.

    In 1962 Hersh was hired by the wire service United Press International (UPI), which assigned him to cover the legislature and other news from South Dakota. A year later he left UPI to report for Associated Press (AP), which in 1965 moved him to Washington, D.C. Befriended by muckraking Leftist journalist I.F. Stone, Hersh soon learned to approach middle and upper level government people directly to ferret out information concealed by government press briefers.

    In 1967 AP assigned this hard-digging young reporter to its special investigative unit. But after a story he wrote about the Pentagon development of chemical and biological weapons was heavily edited by his bosses, Hersh quit AP and sold his story to the liberal magazine The New Republic.

    At the urging of Left-leaning columnist Mary McGrory, Hersh in 1968 took the job of Press Secretary for the renegade anti-Vietnam War presidential campaign of Senator Eugene McCarthy (D.-Minnesota). After three months he quit, disillusioned with political gameplaying.

    On a tip from a Village Voice columnist, freelance journalist Sy Hersh in 1969 began tracking down the story of a purported massacre of civilians a year earlier in the South Vietnamese village My Lai. Hersh, with a small grant from The Fund for Investigative Journalism, located and for hours interviewed the officer accused of what happened at My Lai, Lt. William Calley, Jr. and others.

    After Hersh’s investigation was released by David Obst’s small Left-wing Dispatch News Service and got published in 36 newspapers, it snowballed into major news and made him a superstar. Hersh’s book about My Lai was published in 1970 to critical acclaim but less-than-stellar sales. But he was nevertheless established as a new star in the journalistic heavens.

    In 1972 the New York Times hired Hersh as its investigative superstar to compete with Bob Woodward’s and Carl Bernstein’s “Watergate” reporting at the Washington Post.

    Starting far behind them, Hersh did well in covering this and other hot stories, but then as now he envied Woodward’s fame, portrayal by Robert Redford in the movie “All the President’s Men,” and high income. Ironically, David Obst became the literary agent who sold Woodward & Bernstein’s books, as well John Dean’s and the classified Pentagon Papers released by Daniel Ellsberg. But for whatever reason, Obst did not likewise enrich Hersh.

    In fairness, Bob Woodward has been far easier to sell. A consumate Washington insider, graceful stylist and dramatic storyteller, Woodward is what his critics call the master of giving the deeper version of what is still the “official” story of events.

    Hersh by contrast is abrasive, unkempt, obsessive, anti-establishment, the consumate outsider who works in a small office on Connecticut Avenue N.W. with a listed telephone number but no name on his door. As for his literary style, reading Seymour Hersh is typically like reading a laundry list that ticks off carefully accumulated details and quotes as if they were a dry enumeration of socks and tee-shirts. The power of his work comes from his dogged work as a researcher who tracks down bits of information that nobody else finds.

    The passion that drives Hersh has often manifested as obsessive hatred for American leaders, the projection of American power, and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

    Hersh’s relentless animosity for these American institutions prompted the then-Executive Editor of the New York Times A.M. Rosenthal to refer to him routinely as “my little commie.”

    One target of Hersh’s reporting in both The Times and his books was the overthrow of Chile’s Marxist President Salvadore Allende, according to Hersh with CIA contrivance. Another was what Hersh saw as the evil of President Richard M. Nixon’s National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

    Obsession and hate are dangerous traits in any journalist. It destroys a reporter’s perspective and ability to see all sides of a story. And it tempts a journalist, consciously and unconsciously, to ignore or bend facts in order to paint a black hat on those he has decided in advance are villains. This, say his critics, is Hersh’s great failing.

    In going after the CIA regarding Chile, Hersh did more than ignore evidence that the Castro-supported Marxist Allende (who had been elected under odd circumstances with only about a third of votes cast for President) was moving to prevent honest future elections that would depose him. Hersh also accused the then-American Ambassador to Chile of being part of a plot to overthrow Allende, an error for which Hersh and the New York Times issued a rare apology on that newspaper’s front page.

    “I don’t read him anymore because I don’t trust him,” Max Holland, a Contributing Editor of the ultra-Leftist The Nation magazine, told the Columbia Journalism Review’s Sherman.

    “I read what he writes with some skepticism or doubt or uncertainty,” said Newsweek Assistant Managing Editor Evan Thomas (who, incidentally, comes by his own Leftist politics as grandson of longtime Socialist presidential candidate Norman Thomas).

    LGF had this steyn reply/message to bush.

    The American people, no thanks to their media, still understand what’s real and what’s just cheesy Beltway dinner-theater. That’s why the Abu Ghraib scandal is dead, even if the networks don’t yet know it. It was dead before Nick Berg. It died because the Democrats and their media groupies overplayed their hand, as usual, and so turned a real scandal into just another fake scandal for senatorial windbags to huff and puff over. In the last few days, the Mirror, a raucous Fleet Street tabloid, has published pictures of British troops urinating on Iraqi prisoners, and the Boston Globe, a somnolent New England broadsheet, has published pictures of American troops sexually abusing Iraqi women. In both cases, the pictures turned out to be fake. From a cursory glance at the details in the London snaps and the provenance of the Boston ones, it should have been obvious to editors at both papers that they were almost certainly false.

    Yet they published them. Because they wanted them to be true. Because it would bring them a little closer to the head they really want to roll — George W. Bush’s. If you want to see what the Islamists did to Nick Berg or Daniel Pearl or to those guys in Fallujah or even to the victims of Sept. 11, you’ll have to ferret it out on the Internet. The media aren’t interested in showing you images that might rouse the American people to righteous anger, only images that will shame and demoralize them.

    blackfive a military officer and blogger wieghs in on how stupid this hersh guy's construct is~~~

    " had a reunion with some old Army buddies this weekend. Most of us were Field Grade Officers and Senior Warrants. Last night over dinner after the Sox Game, I was crying (because I was laughing so hard) at some of the things we had done together as juinior soldiers.

    "The Buddha" displayed the ultimate wisdom of the night by declaring, "I can't believe they paid us to blow @#$& up, party at the Officers Club and be Soldiers."

    We talked a lot about the War on Terror and upcoming problems with retention and re-enlistments. Despite what the administration is claiming, no one thought that things were looking as good as described.

    We also agreed that, while Rumsfeld has made a lot of mistakes, he is one of the best Secretaries of Defense that we had seen in a long time. We also thought that the Democrats and left-wing media would do anything to get rid of him - including the latest story by Seymour Hersh in the New Yorker. Hersh is trying to link the prisoner abuse scandal with a secret team of intelligence agents who are rooting out Al Qaeda. The opponents ot the Bush Administration smell blood...

    quote:
    """"Fewer than two hundred operatives and officials, including Rumsfeld and General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were “completely read into the program,” the former intelligence official said. The goal was to keep the operation protected. “We’re not going to read more people than necessary into our heart of darkness,” he said. “The rules are ‘Grab whom you must. Do what you want.’”"""" end quote

    I should state that two of us spent most of our careers in Military Intelligence. One was tactical and I was mostly strategic. We agreed that this was one of the most hilarious things that we had heard in a long time.

    << Sarcasm >>
    1. Only two hundred people were in the know on this plan. If you include Operators (the ones on the front lines) and their controllers, this would mean that maybe 20 people in the Pentagon, CIA, NSA, and DIA knew about the operations (including the SecDef). Right!

    2. Hey, we're only going to tell 200 people in the direct chain of command and in Delta Force, but we'll also include a clerk and a bunch of lower enlisted soldiers that were disciplined for prisoner abuses at other camps. That's the hallmark of success right there.
    << /Sarcasm >>

    I have been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. But I have to say that this is one of the most ridiculous claims that I have ever heard.

    We might be using harsh interrogation techniques on Al Qaeda (we should), but to lamely link that with the Abu Ghraib prison and a few low level MPs and clerks is stretching the limits of sanity.

    These people were bad soldiers who had a history of abusing prisoners. They had bad morale, bad leadership, no training, etc...

    update: joel mowbray wheighs in, and a picture of hersh becomes clearer.... ...he's a.. aaah coming into focus now..

    he's a weasil!

    Hersh's latest exposé has a credibility problem
    By JOEL MOWBRAY

    The article is quite damning, that is, until the reader gets to the obligatory disclaimer.

    Buried 3,300 words inside a 4,500-word article is the following exoneration: "Rumsfeld may not be personally culpable." And farther down near the end was another: "The former intelligence official made it clear that he was not alleging that Rumsfeld or Gen. (Richard) Myers knew that atrocities were committed."

    In Hersh's line of work, opinion-based reporting, he is absolutely within bounds to attack Rumsfeld with as much tenacity as any rabidly partisan Democrat. But the problem is the treatment then given by the rest of the media.

    When mainstream news outlets reported on Hersh's latest piece, there was nary a mention of Hersh's left-leaning bias.

    Even more troubling is that there are more than 25 quotes attributed to "former intelligence officials" and only five to current officials anywhere in government. And all, save for one public official, are anonymous.

    Current officials deserve the cloak of anonymity, particularly when revealing information the public has a right to know and the act itself could cost the person's job. But what is the rationale for keeping nameless all the former officials? There are no jobs on the line, and former officials are routinely quoted on the record in most outlets. Does Hersh think this adds a layer of intrigue if names aren't there to clutter up a good story?

    Most important, how can others judge the credibility of nameless individuals who could be doing nothing more than settling old scores?

    Readers, and the media at large, would also be wise to consider Hersh's credibility in past stories. While much of what he has written has been well-researched and true, he has not been without substantial error.

    In November 2001, Hersh penned a New Yorker piece that portrayed a Pentagon mission to strike Mullah Omar in Afghanistan as a "near-disaster," completely contrary to the official line.

    One fact from the story that numerous conservative publications, from National Review to Washington Times, were quick to expose was one that even a junior New Yorker fact checker should have caught: "The mission was initiated by 16 AC-130 gunships, which poured thousands of rounds into the surrounding area but deliberately left the mullah's house unscathed."

    There almost certainly could not have been 16 AC-130 gunships in one battle; the military has a worldwide total fleet of 21.

    In that November 2001 piece, the muckraker painted a bleak picture, leading the casual reader to believe that the United States might lose the campaign. The Taliban was toppled the next month.

    And in April 2003, Hersh attacked the military capabilities of ground forces in Iraq (blaming, guess who, Rumsfeld). A week and a half later, Saddam's regime was no more.

    Maybe Hersh's piece has quite a bit of truth in it. Even so, the worst that the article actually alleges (meaning with facts) is that Rumsfeld expanded a program that, unbeknown to him, spiraled out of control.

    But with the nameless sourcing — apparently needlessly in most of the cases — determining the accuracy of Hersh's reporting becomes an essentially impossible task.

    Let's hope that's not why he used almost solely anonymous sources.

    the heart of the matter re-visited, are we going to win or are the barbarians going to win

    really who could say the nazis were not going to win in the begaining of ww2? or soviet communism? what would the world be like now if that darkness had been allowed to cover the earth with its death camps and gulags? it was barbarism dressed in the clothing of industrialization, the new barbarism has a different look but the end result of failure will be the same darkness enveloping the world. this guy has a good op-ed piece in the New Zealand Herald. its from last month but with the direction the media has been trying to steer political developments ie, abu griab and the non stop coverage geared towards hurting the war effort and this president, while virtually ignoring what happened to nick berg (especially when it shows who and what our enemies are about), this op ed refocus's the reality of what is really important

    Ron Smith:
    Appeasement policy puts us all in danger

    Appeasement has not returned; it never really left. Democratic politicians have always tended to avoid the hard decisions and postpone difficult choices. When the issue is one of security, the consequences of appeasement can be quite severe.

    British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's 1938 sellout of Czechoslovakia was not only an unprincipled sacrifice of the interests of the Czech people, but a spineless abdication of his responsibility for the security of Britain. In the event, it took only two years to find that out.

    What Britain needed in 1938 was leadership with the courage of its convictions. What it got was populist pandering - and Chamberlain was popular.

    On his return from Munich, he was cheered through the streets and invited to lunch at Buckingham Palace. His actions were applauded by religious and other leaders and by the media. And they were all wrong.

    The threat that confronts the Western world this year may be no less serious, particularly if, once again, appeasement takes hold. The withdrawal of Spanish military forces from Iraq will not insure Spain against further attack by Islamic interests. There are forces that project the re-establishment of Islamic rule in Spain, just as there are interests in this part of the world that envisage a caliphate that would encroach on Australia's northern territories.

    More generally, there are powerful interests in Islam that see the liberal, secular, democratic world as a threat that must be destroyed. It should be clear that the more these interests are palliated, the more their confidence will grow.

    After Munich, Winston Churchill talked of a bitter cup that would be proffered year by year. Appeasement in our time will produce a similar consequence. We have to note that there is a kind of war going on and that we have interests in the outcome of it. New Zealanders travel and trade widely. We also have a long tradition of support for the protection of human rights.

    The forces of fundamentalism, with their unrealistic objectives and their total repudiation of humanitarian restraint, present a challenge and a threat to all these things. In essence, it is a war between civilisation and barbarism - and it is important that the barbarians do not win.

    In a reported interview with a Portuguese magazine, London-based Islamic cleric Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammed made the nature of the struggle crystal-clear: "We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents. Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value. It has no sanctity." It cannot be said that we haven't been told.

    This leaves the enormous question of what is to be done. Of course, we need political leaders with the courage of their convictions and the will to persist with difficult policies in the face of much doubt and apprehension, even at the risk of not being re-elected.

    The media are crucially significant here. They need to recognise they are not mere reporters of events but, such is the nature of the war, they are also part of the process of winning or losing. Unless this latter issue is of complete indifference to them, they have an enormous obligation to attempt to understand the part they play and the influence they have on outcomes.

    now that we've established the gravity of what we face in the west, its important to understand the machinations of the media and what thier goals are.

    I saw a well reasoned post at history's end which explained the nature of this latest kerfufle and the endless coverage of abu griab.

    What Machiavelli would say about Rumsfield Resigning

    Despite having been written centuries ago, there is still a great deal of good advice to be found in Niccolo Machiavelli's realist treatise "The Prince." The issue of Donald Rumsfield and whether he should resign or not finds a great deal of correlation in "The Prince," as Machiavelli realized just how important Secretaries and advisors are for a Prince.

    THE choice of servants is of no little importance to a prince, and they are good or not according to the discrimination of the prince. And the first opinion which one forms of a prince, and of his understanding, is by observing the men he has around him; and when they are capable and faithful he may always be considered wise, because he has known how to recognize the capable and to keep them faithful. But when they are otherwise one cannot form a good opinion of him, for the prime error which he made was in choosing them.

    People will judge someone by those whom he surrounds himself with. President Bush is no exception. Rumsfield, Rice, Powell, all of the President's close advisors and cabinet officers reveal a lot about George W. Bush.

    But if a prince who is not experienced should take counsel from more than one he will never get united counsels, nor will he know how to unite them. Each of the counsellors will think of his own interests, and the prince will not know how to control them or to see through them. And they are not to be found otherwise, because men will always prove untrue to you unless they are kept honest by constraint. Therefore it must be inferred that good counsels, whencesoever they come, are born of the wisdom of the prince, and not the wisdom of the prince from good counsels.

    Here we get to the crux of the matter. Rumsfield was chosen by Bush to be the Secretary of Defense. As the person in charge of the DoD, he was largely responsible for keeping our nation safe from military threats. If Rumsfield is forced to resign, because of the Abu Ghraib, then we must question all of his past judgments. That includes both Iraq and Afghanistan. And then of course we must look at the person who decided Rumsfield was fit for the job. Ultimately, that it what matters most. George W. Bush trusted Donald Rumsfield to do the right thing, and to do a good job. If Rumsfield turns out to be incompetent, what does that say about President Bush?

    finish at history's end

    and the attacks against bush, through rumsfield,and the war on terror by the media is'nt over yet. now they are claiming a direct link from the prison guards to rummy via a program to capture and interogate the enemy where ever and whenever they are found. the press is gleeful that they could still instigate a political lynching of rummy and to hamstring what amounts to a war of survival for the political benefit of thier choice for president, -kerry.

    I also had a good ride ride by the way. cleared my head.
    and on the way home I stopped at the vet and made an apointment for ottzie to get "clipped"
    I said I wouldnt post but since I saw a poll that said 67% of average americans did not want to see rummy leave, and only 22% did, while a majority of the media elitists wanted rummies head on a pike, I knew I had to unwrap and de-mystify the goals of the big media. tomorow I ride again.

    what my stats show me

    is when I review the huge volume of trafic ive gotten for this little out of the way backwater blog, (my usual numbers are about 20-25 hits a day with half being regulars and the other new surfers coming in from various links at other blogs as the referal,

    this changed with the horrible death of mr. berg, my stats went up by hundreds a day virtually all of them referals from search engine queries people were making regarding regarding the atrocity, from all over the world but the majority still from america, virtually none of the searches were about Abu Ghraib which I had also blogged about.

    this is telling me the same thing its telling other bloggers, the media is not covering the berg murder enough and they are beating the prison scandal to death for one reason, to hurt the president. for instance I watched a report by peter jennings and co. which basically made a twisted effort to justify showing or not showing certain things ie. the prison photos or the faluja murders or bergs murder, and how they had really hard decisions to make on what was presentable but the whole time they made this voice over speach they blurred out and or barely showed the faluja contractors, didnt show anything related to how horrible it was for berg, and showed a bland non discript photo of danny pearl, who was also murdered by al-qaida by having his head cut off. but, the rest of the time they scrolled unretouched all of the prison photos slowly across the screen! you tell me what the message was? do they want americans to be reminded of what our enemies are capable of? or only try to make the impression we are failing and we are the real bad guys

    here I cut and pasted a sample chunk of searches listed on my site stats that ended up at my doorstep

    Instapunditmakes the case better than me
    WHY THE BIG MEDIA CONTINUE TO LOSE THEIR AUDIENCE: Neal Boortz observes:

    This morning in most of the newspapers I scanned during my preparation for the show the top story was still the Iraqi prison abuse scandal. Nick Berg had already disappeared from many front pages, but the prison abuse stories remain. May I suggest to you that there is a reason for this? Maybe it's just this simple: The prison abuse scandal can damage Bush, the Nick Berg story can only help him. Given the choice many editors will chose the stories that serve their cause, getting Bush out of the White House, rather than one that hurts it.

    Such cynicism about the media, these days. But he's right. The Berg video wasn't shown on TV, and -- as Boortz notes -- the big media leaders seem almost desperate to keep the story on Abu Ghraib, even to the point of running already discredited fake porn photos purporting to be from Iraq. (And issuing lame and incomplete pseudo-apologies when caught out.)

    But on the Internet, where users set the agenda, not Big Media editors and producers, it's different. As Jeff Quinton notes, Nick Berg is the story that people care about:

    Right now the 10 phrases most searched for are:
    nick berg video
    nick berg
    berg beheading
    beheading video
    nick berg beheading video
    nick berg beheading
    berg video
    berg beheading video
    "nick berg"
    video nick berg

    Likewise, Rod Dreher of the Dallas Morning News reports that that's what his readers care about:

    Our letters page today is filled with nothing but Berg-related letters, most of them demanding that the DMN show more photos of the Berg execution. Not one of the 87 letters we received on the topic yesterday called for these images not to be printed. My sense is that there's a big backlash building against the media for flogging the Abu Ghraib photos, but being so delicate with the Berg images. People sense that there's an agenda afoot here. As somebody, can't remember who, wrote yesterday, "Why is it that the media can show over and over again pictures that could make Arabs hate Americans, but refuse to show pictures that could make Americans hate Arabs?"

    These guys are marginalizing themselves with their agenda-driven coverage. And they're so out of touch they don't realize it. As Andrew Sullivan notes:

    My gut tells me that the Nick Berg video has had much more psychic impact in this country than the Abu Ghraib horrors. I even notice some small evidence for this. Every political blog site has just seen an exponential jump in traffic - far more than anything that occurred during the Abu Ghraib unfolding. My traffic went through the roof yesterday, and, according to Alexa, so did everyone else's. People who have tuned the war out suddenly tuned the war in. They get it. Will the mainstream media?

    My prediction: Nope, and they'll continue to lose audience to the Internet.

    I would add I hope so, they are trying to hurt bush and help kerry at the expense of our national security. as the stats below attest

    Prison Abuse Trumps Saddam’s Mass Graves.

    "Viewers received a false picture of moral equivalence, with only American offenses amplified.

    To illustrate a fraction of the bias problem, we counted the number of prisoner-abuse stories on NBC’s evening and morning news programs (NBC Nightly News and Today) from April 29, when the story emerged, through May 11. There were 58 morning and evening stories. Using the Nexis news-data retrieval system, we counted the number of stories on mass graves found in Iraq from the reign of Saddam Hussein in 2003 and 2004. The number of evening and morning news stories on those grim discoveries? Five."

    five???? five.... aaaah the fair and impartial media,... no bias there.... (hack spit)

    this is the result of liberal indoctrination, a complete lack of common sense, absolutely no critical thinking skills

    and sadly disconnected from reality.

    I really pity this man he lost his son and it was horrific, it left a pit in my stomach and I ignored the first few things he said after his sons death as someone lashing out blindly because of pain, but at this point his ranting are cognitive dissonence detached from the evidence around him including the facts of his sons death.

    the strange and confused political views of the elder Berg, who is apparently some sort of far-left antiwar activist. (Reports such as one in the Philadelphia Daily News suggest he and his son did not see eye to eye on Iraq's liberation.) Agence France-Presse reports on Michael Berg's sickening moral inversion:

    *** QUOTE ***

    "Nicholas Berg died for the sins of George Bush and (Defense Secretary) Donald Rumsfeld," Michael Berg, visibly upset, told ABC television.

    "The al-Qaeda people are probably just as bad as they are, but this administration did this," he said.

    *** END QUOTE ***

    Distraught people sometimes say crazy things, but this quote, from another CNN report , bespeaks a genuine and astonishing ignorance:

    *** QUOTE ***

    Berg's father said Thursday his son was someone who simply wanted to "help people, not to hurt anyone." "He was not disrespectful of danger, he just didn't recognize danger in people," Michael Berg said. "The al Qaeda that killed my son didn't know what they were doing. They killed their best friend. Nick was there to build Iraq, not to tear it down."

    Does Michael Berg really not understand that al Qaeda is in Iraq to tear it down, not to build it? ~~~~~~James Taranto

    and I would add, how sad and ignorant for an american father to connect his dead son to al-qaida as a potential friend and ally, the very people who murdered three thousand other americans including my best friends mother in law, who's body was never found because she was ground into nothing.

    cycle of violence?

    or war of survival?

    When we pay attention to our enemies and see the scope of their ambitions and depth of their hatred we must come to a revolutionary conclusion. We, Israelis, Americans, and indeed all non-fascistic Muslims constitute the frontline in the war wherever we are. It was not US military deployment in Saudi Arabia that precipitated the September 11 attacks anymore than it was the Israeli presence in Lebanon or in Gaza or Judea and Samaria or Jerusalem that precipitated the Palestinian-led jihad against Israel. It is our existence that provokes our enemy.

    Our enemies, the forces of global jihad, be they Palestinian or Jordanian, Saudi, Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian or Iraqi use all the means at their disposal to wage their war against us. From their television and radio stations and newspapers they incite for our destruction and feed us fictions of our own culpability to both strengthen enemy forces' will to fight us and weaken our will to defend ourselves.
    In the UN, the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and on countless other international stages they seek to criminalize us for our crime of defending our existence. In this they find accomplices among our own self-absorbed elites who are only too happy to blame the war being waged against us on ourselves.

    Reporter's Notebook: Prisoner Abuse Not the Norm

    By Greg Palkot

    The treatment by U.S. soldiers of prisoners and detainees kept me up the other night — literally.

    "I was trying to doze on the side of a road in eastern Afghanistan following a late-night raid by troops of the 1st Battalion 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (search). The intended target, an alleged bomb-maker aiming for coalition forces, wasn't nabbed, but the troops had to round up everybody in the raided compound and go through the painstaking interrogation process to try and figure out where the bad guy was."

    I predicted that the cycle of violence canard was coming to our shores since it worked so well against israel

    and here it is.

    this from opinion journal

    The Globe's editorial page is wallowing in moral equivalence, explaining away the decapitation murder of Nick Berg in Iraq, purportedly in response to the abuses at Abu Ghraib:

    *** QUOTE ***

    Those quick to assert that the treatment of Berg was far worse than the US treatment of its prisoners miss an essential point.

    The United States is now part of a cycle of violence in Iraq that is leading in the wrong direction. The murder and mutilation of four American contract workers in Fallujah were infuriating. Logic might say an attack on Fallujah to root out the wrongdoers was justified. But when that attack kills scores of innocents along with some insurgents, it may generate more hostility and deepen the cycle of violence.

    *** END QUOTE ***

    This is maddeningly idiotic. What the Globe calls a "cycle of violence" is actually a war--a war that America joined only after the enemy murdered 3,000 people on our soil. "On the ground in Iraq," the Globe opines, "the primary goal must now be the most difficult: to reverse, somehow, the deadly cycle of violence." It doesn't seem to dawn on the Globies that the way to do that is to win the war. ~~~James Taranto

    here is a muslim with no excuses, no buts, someone I would call a man of goodwill. I wish the best for him,

    Nick Berg
    Posted by: Mahmood Al-Yousif onThu, 13 May 2004 15:50:46 | (109 reads )
    I'm not shocked at all about the manner of Nick Berg's death. The sub-humans who carried out this crime bring shame on all of humanity, let alone Islam. And the whole of humanity should strike back. These extremists no matter what they call themselves should be dealt with.

    If we as Muslims stay quiet about this situation, then we too shall join the ranks of sub-humanity and will be completely culpable.

    My heartfelt condolences to Nick's family and friends. Although this could never be consolation to his family, if there is a definition of martyr, then surely Nick is one.

    here is another muslim, an Iraqi with the courage to speak the truth, true courage, because the moment someone in the middle east speaks with conviction and truth (in the middle east) the death threats start flowing:

    Healing Iraq

    Strange coincidence that the Nick Berg video was released almost simultaneously with the video of Palestinian ‘freedom fighters’ displaying the severed head of an Israeli soldier on a table. Al-Jazeera had the head blurred out, and the Nick Berg video was casually mentioned near the end of their news bulletin, and that was that. No extensive discussions with Arab ‘intelligentsia’ followed, no replaying of the video over and over again for days (as the Abu Ghraib images), no talk shows with enraged, fist shaking, name-calling Arab figures discussing the effect of these videos on the ‘image’ of the Islamic or Arab world. Just shame and guilty silence. Apparently, pictures of an American female soldier taunting a naked man with underwear on his head is much much more gruesome to Arabs. I guess not everyone is perfect.

    So, to distance myself from the shameful hypocritical Arab and Muslim masses. I wish to denounce this barbaric act and the pathetic ideology that fueled it, to disown any person from my part of the world who would justify it, and to offer my sincere condolences and sympathy to the family and countrymen of Nicholas Berg.

    And for Muslims, who are definitely going to say ‘this isn’t the real Islam’:

    “When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives.” Surat Mohammed:4

    Grow up, and leave the 7th century.

    Update:
    Some angry readers have interpreted the above last statement as an attack against fellow Muslims. That was not what I had intended. I usually do my best to avoid theological debates on Islam for safety considerations but I’ll indulge them just this once. My purpose was to point out that Islam indeed excuses such barbaric acts. This is not the same as saying that all Muslims believe in such acts or commit them, moderate Muslims exist, but Islam is not moderate. Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists have not deviated from Islam, in fact all their practices are derived from the Quran and Hadith.

    So yes, Islam is the problem here. Poverty, economic conditions, abuse by so called colonialism, and political frustration are not. Similar conditions elsewhere in the world have not prompted non-Muslims to commit suicide bombings or fly planes into towers. Islam, along with favourable cultural, tribal, and social values existing in the Arab world has prompted that drive. Islam and the Quran alone are the root cause.

    The solution is not however to alienate all Muslims, or to expel them, or annihilate them. It is up to ‘moderate’ Muslims and their clerics to carefully examine their scriptures and to reform, the same way Jews and Christians did. The Quran is a book, and its tenets were appropriate for a certain era in history. Most of it does not apply today, so it is not ‘untouchable’. You either believe in the whole book, together with its violent verses, or you should stop claiming to be a consistent believer. You cannot select verses which appeal to your argument and ignore the rest.

    How would you explain these, for instance:

    “The just retribution for those who fight Allah and His messenger, and commit horrendous crimes, is to be killed, or crucified, or to have their hands and feet cut off on alternate sides, or to be banished from the land. This is to humiliate them in this life, then they suffer a far worse retribution in the hereafter.” Surat Al-Ma’ida:33

    “O believers, do not take Jews and Christians as allies, they are allies of one another. Those among you who ally themselves with these belong with them.” Surat Al-Ma’ida:51

    I can go on and on, but I would rather not. I have intensively examined the Quran and Sunna, and I might have a few things that would scare some pious believers. Maybe, some other time, when I’m in a safer environment, I would devote a website or a book to the subject.

    the tipping point has come

    for a lot of angery americans, I can tell you this arab street you are waking the lion....

    the anti idiotarian rottweiler

    Still Boiling With Anger...

    ...and it is an anger unlike the pathetic "seething" of the Dread Arab Street that we are told over and over again by our effete, worthless, traitorous media that should respect and fear.

    FEAR?

    Fear that cesspool of barbaric, medieval primitivism that has not produced anything worthwhile for a thousand years other than oil, oil which they cannot even figure out how to haul out of the ground themselves? Fear a "culture" that worships murder, bows its head in front of displays of depraved animal behavior that would shame Satan himself? Fear a "religion" that turns the other cheek and says not a peep about the daily outrages committed by its adherents, yet works itself into a spitting frenzy when somebody insults their "manhood?"

    What "manhood", exactly? I have seen paraplegic pigs more "manly" than those child molesting, sodomizing apes with dishcloths on their heads, yet we're supposed to "respect" them?

    Don't. Make. Me. Fucking. LAUGH.

    I am supposed to "respect" a culture that has produced nothing other than a complete worship of man's most base instincts? I am supposed to lend credibility to a religion that celebrates when a bound hostage's head is sawn off with a dull knife while his captors, too cowardly to even show their faces, ululate like the toothless hags of Ramallah that we all got to know so well after 9/11, when they showed their "sympathy" and "compassion" by dancing in the streets? I am supposed to treat with dignity people that endorse the gunning down of a pregnant woman and her four daughters, then rush up to film them bleeding to death?

    I will respect that degenerate assembly of primitives when all Hell freezes over and the demons figure skate for the amusement of the damned, not ONE fucking second before!

    read on

    and here's another from broadsword.

    Al-Qaeda would have us believe that the murder of Nicholas Berg was in retaliation for the prison abuse at Abu Ghraib. So I suppose we'd be justified in wiping out a couple of holy sites with MOAB's. Proportional response and all.

    Abu Ghraib does not justify this. This does not justify Abu Ghraib, assuming the murderers were not actually in Abu Ghraib. The fact that we're not going to nuke Mecca in retaliation proves we're better than they are. Not that we should need reminding of this. Abu Ghraib represents a betrayal of our principles, while this murder represents an expression of theirs.

    My doubts about the overall merits of the decision to go to war in Iraq or the ability of the Bush administration to successfully manage the effort notwithstanding, this is a prime reason why we have to win. The worst case would be that swine like them come to believe that they can defeat us if only they are sufficiently brutal.

    assmonkey speaks out

    Im a catholic, and a practicing one. but I cannot tolerate this wittless verbage from a man who is less defending my religion than he is telling the people fighting to save our western way of life to shut up lest the poor muslim arab masses begain to hate us and christianity...I got news for you Lajolo, they hated us long before this prison scandal (see 911) re-read history showing thier militant expansion into europe and across the east to snuff out christianity, to which the crusades were a response not an action without a catalyst.

    he sounds like a water boy for islam not a champion of western christian values. I dont ever intend to ask islam what wont offend them before I worship. this guy sounds like if they say jump he'll say how high..

    ROME - The scandal of prisoner abuses by U.S. soldiers in Iraq (news - web sites) has dealt a bigger blow to the United States than the Sept. 11 attacks, the Vatican (news - web sites) foreign minister told an Italian newspaper.

    ubsurdly titled article

    In an interview published Wednesday in the Rome daily La Repubblica, Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo described the abuses as "a tragic episode in the relationship with Islam" and said the scandal would fuel hatred for the West and for Christianity.

    "The torture? A more serious blow to the United States than Sept. 11. Except that the blow was not inflicted by terrorists but by Americans against themselves," Lajolo was quoted as saying in La Repubblica.

    Lajolo said that "intelligent people in Arab countries understand that in a democracy such episodes are not hidden and are punished ... Still the vast mass of people — under the influence of Arab media — cannot but feel aversion and hate for the West growing inside themselves."

    And, he added, "the West is often identified with Christianity."

    update:

    another story out about my church which has put out an interesting warning which in my estimation is finnaly on the right path.

    Vatican Warns Catholics Against Marrying Muslims
    Fri May 14, 2004 12:43 PM ET

    By Shasta Darlington
    VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican warned Catholic women on Friday to think hard before marrying a Muslim and urged Muslims to show more respect for human rights, gender equality and democracy.

    Calling women "the least protected member of the Muslim family," it spoke of the "bitter experience" western Catholics had with Muslim husbands, especially if they married outside the Islamic world and later moved to his country of origin.

    letter to a crapweasil

    Brutality: the home truths

    Gary Younge/aka waterboy for terrorists
    g.younge@guardian.co.uk

    The Bush administration's response to the daily shots of vicious inhumanity emerging from Abu Ghraib is to lambast them as an aberration. But McCotter's professional journey alone tells us that the trouble with Abu Ghraib was that it was all too consistent with America's models of incarceration.

    The story of overcrowded prisons, administered by private, unaccountable contractors is the story of the American penal system. Over the past 25 years the number of inmates has quadrupled and more than 40 states have been put under some form of court order for the mistreatment of prisoners.

    The parallels do not stop there. At the Maricopa County jail in Phoenix, men are forced to wear pink knickers as a form of punishment(first off its not a form of punishment it is the issued wear, and oooohhh the humanity that a criminal should have to wear pink, fuckin tard) In Pennsylvania and other states, prisoners are stripped naked in front of other inmates before being moved to a new prison or a new unit. (yeah so they wont stick a hidden knife in anyones back you simpering asswipe)

    With each Orwellian statement about the need to defend western civilisation(orwellian??? it doesnt need defense?? we didnt have thousands killed by islamoanimals? they dont have a mission statement saying all the world must submit to islam??) and each denunciation of "un-American" activities, it is vital to point out that they are anything but aberrant....... ( bullshit it is an aberation we are not the evil empire you fucktard the aberation would be for the arab world to condem sawing an innocent mans head off you weasil)

    .........The most stark contradiction to have emerged from this episode is that many Americans see their country as a harbinger of democracy and freedom which made a mistake, and the rest of the world sees it as a bully reverting to type.

    I responded in an e-mail to him

    reverting to type?

    and how would you characterize how we treated nazi germany?

    imperial japan?

    the soviet union by our cold war efforts?

    now how would you characterize france and its role in vietnam, algeria, and the creation of bathism in syria and iraq?

    germany?

    russia?

    saddam?

    hmmm only we are the bully huh? how many bullies give out thier own lunch money? we give ours out around the world. americans are responsible for the majority of the charitable donations working around the world and our government gives out more money to help nations around the world.

    you talk as though you are in a vacume, and we did not have 3000 murdered people to avenge. and I mean avenge. we are in a clash of cultures that has been going on long before america even existed, but now we are the favorite whipping boy.

    its quite fasionable to be anti american, I read your article and I said to myself what a weasil. when the islamofascists gain control of britian in 30 or 40 years after refusing to melt into british society I wont shed any tears for you personally.

    and france? can fuck themselves collectively before I would support one american going to france to help when thier islamo fascist civil war starts.

    here's a quote from one of YOUR nieghbors~~

    We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents. Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value. It has no sanctity.
    -Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, head of the al Muhajiroun group in London.

    more than likely when they put all you brits who refuse to submit to islam to the sword they wont even use a sword on your babies since thier life has no sanctity they wont waste a sharp edge and will just bash thier little brains out against a wall.
    (this having happeed to westerers children in algeria)

    give me a ring then about who the bully reverting to type is.

    Arabs Divided Over Beheading of American in Iraq

    Wed May 12,11:07 AM ET

    By Amil Khan

    CAIRO, Egypt (Reuters) - Arabs were divided Wednesday over the beheading of an American hostage in Iraq (news - web sites), some calling it barbaric while others said it was the natural response to American violence against Iraqis.
    "Zarqawi is an enemy of the Arab and Muslim nation because he distorted their image and portrayed Islam in an incorrect manner," said Hasan Ahmad Jarallah, 41, a Saudi government employee, who had seen the tape on the Internet.
    "What religion or sect condones such a barbaric act? This is abominable, God curse Zarqawi," he said of the tape, which showed masked men sawing Berg's head off with a large knife and holding it in the air.

    Mutaz, a Syrian taxi driver working in the United Arab Emirates, went further:

    "It must have been a beautiful sight. The Americans deserve even more than this for what they are doing in Iraq. Every American should watch this tape to see what is coming to them.

    Al Franken's Air Anti-America is this war's Tokyo Rose. During World War II, US troops around the Pacific could tune in to hear the lovely, seductive voice of "Tokyo Rose," a woman broadcasting from the Japanese capital in flawless English detailing the futility of the war. Rose encouraged US troops to stop fighting, and tried to demoralize us and intimidate us, all with silky, sexy tones.

    In our current war, Rose need not broadcast from the enemy capital. She is Randi Rhodes, and she's part of Al Franken's failure of a "liberal" talk radio network. What is Taliban Rhodes saying to those Americans so unfortunate as to tune her in? Oh...

    Rock bottom came when she compared Bush and his family to the Corleones in the "Godfather" saga. "Like Fredo, somebody ought to take him out fishing and phuw," she said, imitating the sound of gunfire.
    ...just that President Bush should be taken out and dispatched, Bolshevik-style. Silver bullet through the head. The charming lass also said, pace Abu Ghraib, Sec Def Rumsefeld should be tortured. Islamicists need not develop their own propaganda anymore--"liberal" talk radio will suffice. Taliban Rhodes is on the job.

    What the hell, Democrats? Is this what passes for your side's political discourse this year, or just what passes through your large intestine?

    This is what you call "Air America?"

    B. Preston also covers some other disturbing developements regarding our homegrown traitors
    The Globe's editors have failed their readers in a way that bloggers could not possibly mimic, and have attempted to do lasting damage to the war effort. They were aided and abetted by a "liberal" politician and two Islamic shills.

    Democrats, liberals, this is your party and these are your allies--people who advocate assassinating the President and torturing the SecDef, people who will use a wartime setback as a political weapon, and who pass off fake pictures with the intent to smear American troops fighting and dying to guarantee our freedom and liberate a war-torn nation.

    Until “moderate” Muslims (if there ARE any) are willing to prevent the desecration of their sacred “Allah” by killing the more “outspoken” of their faith, not a single one of them can be trusted.

    American Germans and Italians signed up to join the US armed services in WWII to kill their Axis cousins.

    We need to demand that Muslims in the US do likewise or show them and their families their exit visas to the 11th Century Mullahcracy they came from and let them fight for US-style freedoms there instead of being a beachhead for turning America into dar al Islam.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    NYT op ed
    A week ago we were treated again to absurd Saudi allegations that "Zionists" were behind the latest bombing in Saudi Arabia, because, said Saudi officials, "Zionists" clearly benefit from these acts. Someone ought to tell the Saudis this: Don't flatter yourselves. The only interest Israelis have in Saudi Arabia is flying over it to get to India and China — countries that actually trade and manufacture things other than hatred of "infidels."
    The Bush team has made a mess in Iraq, but the pathologies of the Arab world have also contributed — and the sheer delight that some Arab media take in seeing Iraq go up in flames is evidence of that. It's time for the Arab world to grow up — to stop dancing on burning American jeeps and claiming that this is some victory for Islam.
    One thing about countries like Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and Japan, they may not have deserts but they sure know the difference between the mirage and the oasis — between victories that come from educating your population to innovate and "victories" that come from a one-night stand by suicidal maniacs like 9/11.
    As I said, the Bush team has made a mess in Iraq. And I know that Abu Ghraib will be a lasting stain on the Pentagon leadership. But here's what else I know from visiting Iraq: There were a million acts of kindness, generosity and good will also extended by individual U.S. soldiers this past year — acts motivated purely by a desire to give Iraqis the best chance they've ever had at decent government and a better future. There are plenty of Iraqis and Arabs who know that.
    letter from an american soldier on the front lines
    this in at Amy Ridenour's National Center Blog "I Ask That the American People Be Brave"
    "Sadr is now running scared in Najaf. This is great. The Iraqi people of Najaf are offended by this Baghdad thug coming to their city and trying to hijack them into conflict with us. His militias have moved into Karbala too, and the same sentiment is being expressed by the people there. Sadr and his Mahdi Army militia are occupiers of those cities, and are insulting the most sacred sites of Shia Islam daily in their actions. Sadr's forces have stockpiled weapons in mosques and schools, and he continuously is going into the Imam Ali Mosque to call for jihad against us. This is offending Iraq's Shia leaders very much, and the Shia people are not following.
    Our units, in fact, are operating w/in 500 meters of the most sacred Shia religious sites in these cities, and you should notice that the local people are not resisting. This is what the pessimists amongst you are preventing you from understanding. Something like this would have been impossible before Sadr and his militia thugs went into there to hijack Iraqi Shia Islam. The people of Najaf and Karbala know we are not there to conquer and occupying the religious sites; we are there to liberate them from this would-be tyrant who is trying to hijack them. His uprising has been contained, despite Sadr's desperate efforts to expand.
    Goal four: Now Sadr's patrons and mentor in Iran are breaking from him. Grand Ayatollah Hossain Kazzam Haeri in Qom, Iran, is no longer backing him and has instead made it clear that Sadr's uprising is not sanctioned. Haeri is his mentor, and was a close intimate to Sadr's respectable father. The Teheran Times has run stories that are largely exaggerated, but still are making clear that Sadr's uprising is counter to Iranian interests and does not have the support of even one of Iran's grand statesman, Hashemi Rafsanjani.
    In lieu of this, Sadr has exploded increasingly desperate and offensive. On Friday, he offended perhaps the whole Muslim world when he issued a fatwa (a religious edict) that if his forces in Basra capture a female British soldier, they can keep her as a slave. And as I pointed out already, his militia thugs in Najaf and Karbala are keeping weapons in mosques and schools.
    In this, quite frankly, Sadr has done it to himself. He has compelled his would-be supporters amongst Iran's hard-liners to break from him and to put distance between Iran's interests and Sadr's uprising. Along with this, Shiites all over Iraq are breaking from Sadr and ignoring his frantic calls for jihad and slave-taking. Sadr has been abandoned."
    he goes on to say many other important things including this
    The pessimists would have you believe this is a disaster. Don't listen to them. I think some of them feel that their reputations require our failure because they have been so negative all along, so they are jumping at every opportunity to sensationalize what is happening here as a disaster. Eliminating Sadr's threat is part of the overall mission and we are further ensuring the liberation of the Iraqi people. This has to be done, and we are doing it.
    the strategy
    chris from junkyard blog had this interesting point on how the fifth column media is working in concert with our enemies.
    www.coxandforkum.com
    CBS RAISES THE STAKES AFTER BEHEADING
    "60 Minutes II has responded to today's beheading of an American, prompted largely by their earlier broadcast, by expressing remorse raising the stakes. They've just announced a new anti-American segment for tomorrow. The latest war crime? A U.S. soldier talked about Iraqi prisoners dying from spider bites! She said she didn't care about them or the ones that were shot for attacking guards. Plus she threw some rocks at some guys once and got in trouble! Oh the humanity! The biggest crime to liberals is, of course, not caring -- in this case about Iraqis and terrorists who kill Americans and other Iraqi civilians.
    To use a poker analogy, President Bush and the troops are now caught in the middle of a deadly "raising war" between al Qaeda and the liberals at CBS. They're both overplaying their hands, but the goal of the tactic is to get America to fold the winning hand. Soon everyone will catch on to what they're up to. The problem will then be that 45% of Americans don't mind that liberals are working with the terrorists to achieve a common goal.
    The pre-election bombing of Madrid, followed by coordinated media attacks on their President Aznar, got Spain to pull troops out of Iraq. That's the model for what were watching now. In the case of America, it started with Falluja followed immediately by media salvos on the Pentagon and those evil mercenary contractors. Remember that? The media actually smeared the four Blackwater contractors who were burned alive! Then Sadr's army attacked and the media quickly portrayed it as Iraq in total chaos, near civil war.
    Now we've had an interesting reversal where 60 Minutes moves first against America followed by scores of other media attempts to say the war has already been lost. Even that failed to move John Kerry's numbers though. Now the terrorists follow up with a retaliatory beheading of another civilian and 60 Minutes II moves right away to cover their flank. Nice work CBS. A Team bound, B Team cover.. B Team bound, A Team cover. Back and forth they'll go, raising the stakes and bearing down on President Bush until he quits fighting or is voted out in November."
    rage in the arab street??? fuck you you fucking rabid animals you are gonna get some rage in the american street right now
    if you want to see what our enemies are capable and just how evil they are click here for links. hannity has two. and the deafening silence from the arab world means one thing to me, they approve. I can tell you this I wont let us loose this war on terror. because animals like this would run the world if we fail.
    I am completely sick of hearing about the humiliation on the arab street.
    I am sick of seeing and hearing excuses for arabs dancing for joy over other peoples deaths, swinging body parts around like party favors, cutting off innocent people's heads and joyously proclaiming thier demon god is great. shooting little girls in the face at point blank range. but crying crocodile tears over abu griab. fuck you you fucking animals.
    to the rest of you, riegn in your fucking rabid animals. because we (the american street have tried very hard to see these fucking culprits as a small group of fanatics but I have news for you, if it continues like this we will see all of you in this light and can tell you now we are not europeans we will give you what you want death
    update:
    this post at the command post, typifies the average american, we were willing to differentiate between who bush called the hijackers of a religion and the peacefull practitioners. that time is rapidly coming to an end.
    I watched the video. I was numb for twenty minutes; I prayed for another twenty minutes; I cried for about fve miutes, and have been seething with rage for the past 45 minutes.
    Do not ever try to tell me that Islam is the religion of peace, for I’ll not believe you. Not becaus I saw these animals decapitating Nick Berg, but because of the silence of the supposedly peaceful muslims around the world. Where is the outrage?
    Americans express outrage at the actions of our troops/people all of the time. Where is your outrage peaceful followers of Allah? Are you afraid of the animals that have subjugated your religion? Or are you secretly smiling on the inside?
    Until such time as I hear a VERY LOUD protest from the non-jihadist muslims, I shall not trust a singel one of you. This is not my normal way of thinking, but you have, by your timidness, forced me to adopt this position.
    This is WWIII. It will spread to our shores again. And believe me when I say that I will have a piece of pork for each and every of the enemy that I kill.
    rabid dogs murder man and praise thier demon god
    ''My name is Nick Berg, my father's name is Michael, my mother's name is Susan,'' the man said on the video. ''I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia.''
    After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting ''Allahu Akbar!'' - ''God is great.'' They then held the head out before the camera
    .
    well there it is.
    our worst deeds are practically at the level of frat hazing, man on a leash, man with panties on his head, is it even remotely close to this evil? he screamed for almost a minute as they worked to cut off his head. then as his neck finnaly snaps he's silent. they hold up his head eyes clearly open and start shouting allah akbar in joy. this is our enemies at work and they must be destroyed.
    Some federal workers have fake degrees
    hat tip nancoh
    GAO says dozens of employees have bogus diplomas
    The Associated Press
    Updated: 10:38 a.m. ET May 11, 2004WASHINGTON
    - At least 28 senior-level federal employees in eight agencies have bogus college degrees, including three managers at the office that oversees nuclear weapons safety, congressional investigators have found.
    The problem is likely even bigger, mainly because the government has no uniform way to check whether employees' alma maters are "diploma mills" that require little, if any, academic work, the General Accounting Office reported.
    The findings by the investigative arm of Congress were to be presented to a Senate committee Tuesday.
    An earlier GAO report revealed how easy it is to buy a degree from a diploma mill; this one shows high-level federal workers securing such degrees at taxpayer expense. The tally was $169,471 at just two of the schools.
    The colleges in question often use names similar to those of accredited schools and offer degrees largely on a person's "life experience." Some simply sell degrees for a flat fee.
    Among those with bogus degrees in the GAO review were three workers with emergency operations roles and security clearances at the National Nuclear Security Administration, part of the Department of Energy.
    One of those workers paid $5,000 for a master's degree from LaSalle University, an unaccredited school, the report said. He attended no classes, took no tests and told the GAO his degree was "a joke."
    A Brief Foray into an Internet Cafe
    "I won't be doing this too often, there aren't that many and I'm too old for their typical clientele.
    Many thanks for all the good wishes, I am safe but there's too much activity around for me to use my normal link. Thanks for all the emails but please excuse the lack of reply, I'm sure you'll understand.
    Anyway, I just had to come on air because of the latest piece of idiocy from our rulers. Forget what I ever said about Crown Prince Abdullah being relatively reasonable - he's completely lost the plot. Prince Nayif, on the other hand, has always lived in a mad world of his own."
    We Are at War With Terrorists, Says Naif
    JEDDAH, 8 May 2004 — Saudi Arabia is in a state of war with terrorism, Interior Minister Prince Naif declared yesterday. But he also said efforts at communicating with extremists had been effective in bringing a number of them back into the fold.
    ...................
    ...................
    Speaking to top military and civilian officials in Jeddah last Saturday when four terrorists went on a shooting spree in Yanbu killing five Westerners and a National Guard officer, the crown prince said he believed Zionists were behind most terrorist attacks in the Kingdom. But in a press statement after the attack, Prince Naif blamed Al-Qaeda.
    “I don’t see any contradiction in the two statements, because Al-Qaeda is backed by Israel and Zionism,” he said.
    "So there you have it. It's official, our Interior Minister says so. It's all the fault of the Jews, just like they teach us in school. Al Qaeeda is a front for the Mossad. Osama Bin Laden is really a Jewish kid from the Bronx, went out one day to buy some bagels but somehow ended up in Afghanistan where he led all those good Arab boys astray and got them to practice blowing things up with historic Buddha statues. But you have to admit that the Jews are clever, the way they threaten themselves with oblivion; there's nothing more deceptive than a double-bluff."
  • Kimberly-Clark and YMCA Pro-Terror ???
  •
    aarons rant blog has this disturbing developement, and the "corporate sponsor" helping to fund this crap.I wouldnt of believed it unless I saw it. here's aaron in his own words.
    The YMCA is pursuing an aggressive anti-Semitic campaign called “Free Palestine”.
    "The reason I can label the campaign anti-Semitic and not merely anti-Israel is because part of their policy is to compare the IDF’s battle against terrorists to the crucifixion! (Please see the B’nei Brith article about the situation at the bottom of this email).
    The most visible corporate sponsor of the YMCA is Kimberly-Clark, who, according to their web site, have offices in the “country” of Palestine. Please encourage K-C NOT to continue to support the YMCA until they have stopped their campaign that includes publications that contain language like the following:"
    “Following the cross of Jesus is to act in solidarity with the victims of the day, as Jesus was crucified with the people who were branded as ‘terrorists’ by the authorities of this time. The Palestinians are currently crucified, humiliated, and denied their human rights and dignity. The cross is the victory of the powerless. According to biblical faith, God is the protector and defender of the poor and dispossessed, and they are their heirs of the Kingdom.”
    jesus was “in solidarity” with people branded terrorists???
    that is a load of crap.
    jesus would never be in solidarity with this
    what they see versus what we see
    the british pickle has a few words of advice for the president, and im inclined to agree
    Bush’s grovelling apologies were a mistake, putting New Iraq and soldiers lives at risk. The West must learn, like Chamberlain after Munich, Israel after Oslo, dictatorships only respond to force.
    The West governs by polite, reasoned discussion, the Middle East mostly by cruel and brutal dictatorship.
    Seeing the world’s military chief beg forgiveness diminishes his power and gives hope to thugs looking for signs of weakness.
    As in 1938, the West sleeps in naive wish-fullness, hoping reason will bring peace. Not a bit of it. Britain's betrayal of Checkslovakia only made Hitler bolder. Offering Arafat most of his demands, saw him return to Gaza to call for the destruction of Israel in all-out, holly war.
    After the Coalition deposed the Middle East’s most despotic dictator, much of the Middle East turned on the liberators, and with wounded pride, attempted to kill them.
    Bush need state facts only. Yes it was wrong, yes we’ll arrest the idiots who did it, no we’re not going to grovel or apologise for the actions of a few. We’re proud of what we’ve done and we'll continue helping Iraqis gain freedom.
    Israel’s eagerness to parley emboldened Arafat’s military ambitions. Eight years of weak, vacillating Clinton leadership, shackling the CIA, rejecting military force, doubtless roused Al Qaeda to action.
    There is a time to talk and a time to kill enemies. America Liberated Europe and Asia with death and destruction, not apeals to reason. Public displays of self-deprecation may bring joy to the Left, embolden frightened dictators and gladden the hearts of ambitions Mullahs, they may also loose America the war.
    The Middle East is ruled by fear, not democratic reason. The Iraqi people's break for freedom is not helped by attempts to pacify the oposition with apologies.
    the traitors are reving themselves up
    LGF spotted this vile treason which was given a forum at the Indymedia.
    Military Targets in the USA must be Attacked
    The torture of Muslim prisoners in Iraq in the “rape rooms” at the American Abu Ghraib prison confirms that the so-called American war on terror is really a war on Islam. George Bush has created a global gulag network of extra-legal and secret US prisons with thousands of inmates. This Gulag stretches from Afghanistan to Iraq, to Guantanamo and secret CIA prisons around the world. This Gulag exclusively holds Muslim prisoners.
    In light of these revelations, Al-Masakin would like to take this opportunity to remind the American Muslim Mujahedin, and our allies in the revolutionary and anti-Imperialist left, that ROTC buildings, armed service recruiting centers, individual military personnel, and police officers are “military targets”. These institutions must be violently and covertly attacked.
    In fact, there are thousands of unarmed military targets walking around all over the United States. Outraged American citizens and American Muslims should have little difficulty making violent contact with recruits, cadets, marines, etc
    .
    We strongly recommend that such contact be made with a very sharp knife, pepper spray, brass knuckles, baseball bats, firearms, explosives, or the bumper of a full sized automobile, truck or SUV.
    Al-Masakin
    this Al-Masakin crapweasil has a proven history as someone who has high level access to the Indymedia site. he has been tracked by some pretty savvy people over at LGF, and I found the original text along with links to more of the crapweasils propaganda thru this blogger
    this comes on the heals of lileks prophetically opining that domestic terrorism by the loony left may be coming back into vogue ala the radical 60's
    "As noted here and elsewhere, the fevered rants of the fringe have not only entered the mainstream, they’ve been embraced and amplified. Add to that the non-contiguous information stream problem, and you have an astonishing degree of polarization in the body politic. You say: duh. You say: what’s new. Well, here’s the problem: there seems to be an expectation that the next election will somehow settle everyone’s hash, and we move on from there. But the next election is just the beginning of the next phase of American politics. It gets ugly after next November. If some people think Bush is Hitler now, who will he be in 05 if he wins? Rabid Super Extra-Plus UltraHitler?
    If the Dems lose big, then the party fades and slinks away and sulks, much as the Republicans did when they misjudged the zeitgeist and got pasted for it. How the party reacts, and how the ordinary patriotic Democrat voter reacts, I can’t say. Little impact on the local level, that’s for sure. But what about those people who already regard the Democrats as sell-outs and phonies, bought-and-paid-for corporate whores? That’s a subset, the ranting fringe. But you have to wonder what they’ll do if Bush wins They already seem to regard America as a lost cause; they see the fascist caul draped over the land, just as the demented home-grown terrorists of the 60s and 70s saw Amerikkka as irredeemably evil, a thing that had to be killed for The People to live. Most of the ranting fringe – 99.5% – will whine and seethe in the message boards of the Internet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if domestic leftist terrorism made a comeback this decade. It only takes a few, after all. And it only takes a few sympathizers here and there to shield them."
    it is completely apparent that the lunatics over at indymedia are those sympathizers who will shield the aspiring traitor/murderer terrorists in our midst. this reaches the level of treason folks.
    5th column nature of the media
    there's a frustration over the 5th column nature of the media.
    long before this sadistic prison story broke people like jonah have been asking why the media had been sanitizing the awfull truth about what the end looked like for the poor innocents who leaped to thier deaths from the towers on 911. or the grissly barbaric nature of our enemies in faluja.
    and at the core of it is the question who's side are they on? are they more interested in leftists re-couping power even at the expense of the saftey of america, or the loss of this war on terror that we are in, and what that would mean for the saftey of our troops?
    are they on the side of the islamo-fascists, like the former diplomats who recently signed a letter to the president?
    nothing said by people like jonah is remotely geared towards an excuse.
    but it is a heads up to what the real agenda of this over the top coverage is about.
    saw this at Occam's Toothbrush
    Media Missteps, Context gets lost in hysteria and grandstanding.
    By Jonah Goldberg
    consider a few facts.
    In 1994, ten Belgian peacekeepers were horribly mutilated alive (castrated, their Achilles tendons slashed, etc.) in Rwanda. The full extent of the barbarity wasn't disclosed for a long time for fear of reprisals.
    Just a month ago, television news networks agonized about how much they should show of the butchery of Americans in Fallujah. They opted for very, very little.
    Within 48 hours of the 9/11 attacks, the major news networks and leading newspapers were settling on a policy to stop showing images of victims leaping to their death from the World Trade Center. NBC ran one clip of a man plunging to his death, and then admitted it was a mistake. An NBC News v.p. told the New York Times, "Once it was on, we decided not to use it again. It's stunning photography, I understand that, but we felt the image was disturbing."
    In fact, post-9/11 coverage illuminates an interesting cultural cleavage in the media. When shocking images might stir Americans to favor war, the Serious Journalists show great restraint. When those images have the opposite effect, the Ted Koppels let it fly.
    Czech records indicate Atta meeting with Iraqi official in Prague
    Posted: May 7, 2004
    New evidence about a meeting in Prague between September 11 plot leader Mohamed Atta and Iraqi intelligence officer Ahmad Khalil Ibrahim Samir al-Ani has been uncovered, reports Geostrategy-Direct, the global intelligence news service. Investigative journalist Edward J. Epstein has uncovered Czech government visa records indicating al-Ani was posted to the Iraqi embassy in Prague between March 1999 and April 21, 2001, and was involved in handling Iraqi agents.
    A search of the Iraq Embassy in Prague after the fall of Baghdad to coalition forces revealed al-Ani had scheduled a meeting for April 8, 2001, with a Hamburg student, according to an appointment calendar obtained by Czech intelligence. Al-Ani then was placed under surveillance as he met with a young Arab-speaking man in Prague April 8. After seeing Atta's photograph after Sept. 11, the Czech counterintelligence watcher identified the man he had seen meeting al-Ani as Atta. Al-Ani was expelled from Prague within two weeks. According to Epstein, al-Ani denied he met Atta and repeated the denial after being detained by U.S. forces in July. The CIA has been unable to confirm the Prague meeting between al-Ani and Atta. If confirmed, the meeting would indicate a role by Saddam Hussein's intelligence service in some level of support for the Sept.11 plot. The current official U.S. intelligence conclusion is that Saddam's regime was not involved in supporting the Sept. 11 attacks. According to Epstein, Spanish intelligence has uncovered information indicating Algerians Khaled Madani and Moussa Laouar supplied Atta and another al-Qaida member, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, with false passports. Epstein's information supports other journalists who have uncovered a connection between Iraq and al-Qaida, including Jayna Davis, author of "The Third Terrorist: The Middle Eastern Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing."
    In her book, Davis suggests the September 11 attacks possibly could have been prevented if evidence of an Iraqi and al-Qaida link to the OKC bombing had been pursued.
    a question
    Emperor Darth Misha I, from the anti idiotarian rottweiler has a question for all of you drooling lefties...
    It has come to our attention that the Dhimmicrats are bellowing for the resignation of Don Rumsfeld, ostensibly because of Abu Ghraib, and we suppose that we'd be failing in our duties if we didn't comment on it.
    First things first, however:
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
    *CHOKE*, *SNORT*, *GUFFAW!*
    There, much better now.
    Now, of course a reasonable person might be interested in knowing just what in the names of the 7 warts on Satan's left testicle Don Rumsfeld has to do with what went on at Abu Ghraib, and, more importantly, just exactly how he's in any shape, form or fashion actually responsible for it.
    But it would be an exercise in futility to expect the Drooling Dhimmis to come up with anything resembling an argument on this as well as pretty much anything else, so we won't be holding our breath.
    Instead we'd like to ask the Loonies of Dhimmi La-La-Land a simple question, and we'll try to keep it short and simple so's to make sure that they're not distracted by shining spoons or something similar before we're done:
    You are, on one hand, demanding the resignation of a cabinet member over an incident that he had nothing to do with or, if he DID, that you have failed miserably (again) to tie around his neck by way of actual proof.
    OK, we've got that down.
    On the other hand, you're endorsing a self-admitted war criminal for the office of President of the United States.
    Care to explain?
    europe sliding towards tyrrany..... again.....
    spotted at the A.E. Brain
    Mr Tillack is a respected German reporter who has written extensively about the Eurostat scandal. This convoluted affair really deserves a column to itself but, briefly, it involves allegations that millions of euros have been diverted from the budget by Commission officials. More recently, Mr Tillack had started to investigate the broader failure of EU authorities to act on tip-offs. It was this that triggered the reaction. Last month police swooped on his flat. He was questioned for ten hours without a lawyer, while his laptop, files and address book were confiscated. Even his private bank statements were ransacked.
    The raid was ordered by Olaf, the EU's anti-corruption unit. Needless to say, no such treatment has been meted out to the alleged fraudsters. In the looking-glass world of Brussels, it is those exposing sleaze, rather than those engaging in it, who find themselves in police custody. Mr Tillack was implausibly accused of having procured some of his papers by bribery. No formal charges have been brought, and he is now planning to sue. In the meantime, though, the notes he had built up over five years of meticulous work have been seized and his sources put at risk.
    [...]
    In the Tillack case, we see perhaps the EU's most worrying tendency: its belief that its cause is self-evidently right, and that this justifies virtually any action against its critics. If you think I am exaggerating, cast your mind back to an article in this newspaper by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard a couple of years ago. It concerned the legal case brought by Bernard Connolly, who had been sacked from the European Commission for opposing the euro. In giving his judgment, the EU's Advocate-General pronounced that freedom of speech was not an all-encompassing right; criticism of the European Union, like blasphemy, lay outside its remit.
    Here's a case. This week, the City of Melbourne, Australia sponsored this professionally-designed window display:
    The red words on the glass read:
    Since the creation of Israel in 1948
    200,000 Palestinians have been killed
    5,000,000 refugees have been created
    21,000 square kilometers of land have been annexed
    385 towns and villages have been destroyed
    200,000 settlements have been built
    300 billion military dollars have been spent
    100+ WMDs have been manufactured
    65 UN resolutions have been ignored
    The Herald Sun verifies (under the unfortunate headline 'Art Offends Jews') that public funds paid for the exhibit:
    A spokeswoman for the City of Melbourne said the art was part of a rotating exhibition at the Flinders St window space, called 24seven. She said the council provided $8,000 to curator Mark Hilton to fund different art in the space throughout this year.
    While the singling out of democratic Israel for a publicly-funded harangue is itself outrageous, HonestReporting will focus on the numerous factual errors:
    ● Independent analyses by SIPRI, B'Tselem, and other agencies indicate that no more than 20,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since 1948. Meanwhile, Israel has lost 20,297 military personnel since the War of Independence.
    ● The actual number of Arab refugees in 1949 was, according to Israeli sources, 538,000. (The UN puts the figure at 720,000.) Due primarily to neglect by Arab leaders, their descendents have reached over 4 million.
    ● The 21,000 square kilometers of land that the exhibition claims Israel 'annexed' apparently refers to the actual size of Israel itself - without considering disputed territories. This is a clear indication that the 'artist' considers Israel's very existence illegitimate.
    ● '200,000 settlements'?! Even if one includes the Golan and eastern Jerusalem, there are no more than 350 disputed settlements.
    what more can be said? an antisemite anti israel artist put together a colection of outright falsehoods packaged in as a slick "propaganda art piece. I dispute it as art. I am an artist. I majored in sculpture, I have worked for years in the comercial art field of graphic arts for sign design (my portrait of ottzie at the top is one and here's some more of my work here, & IM gonna squeeze one in the bottom of this post). so forget the message for a moment its not even a good sign design.
    in the end the "crap" came down
    .
    now here is some of my art.
    this by the way is a portrait of my prize winning welsummer cock.
    I won first reserve at the new mexico state fair with my cock.
    after the judge inspected and handled my cock he was impressed by
    its form, color and comformation to standard
    the judge told me the only reason my cock took first reserve (2nd place)
    instead of first place was because it still needed to fill out a little,
    but that it was an exellent specimen and a fine example in its class.
    and I should show my cock next year
    as you can tell from my portrait it is a good looking cock
    so this year im hoping my cock will take first place.
    compare and contrast, two cultures and inspect the press's presentation
    our leaders, our government, our society has condemned the stupid sadistic treatment of the iraqi prisoners, rumsfeld spent the morning on the hot seat, and in the end the message from our culture is mistreating fellow human beings even from the enemies camp is wrong, will not be tolerated, and will be punished.
    compare and contrast this to news out today, which I saw at LGF that
    , A senior aide of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr told worshippers during a Friday sermon in southern Iraq that anyone capturing a female British soldier can keep her as a slave.(and contrast this to the fact ive never been to church and been told to it was a-ok to capture and enslave anyone. ever... never... not once)
    The aide, Sheik Abdul-Sattar al-Bahadli, also called on supporters to launch jihad, or holy war, against British troops in this southern city.
    He offered money to anyone capturing or killing a member of the Governing Council, the widely unpopular interim administration appointed by the U.S.-led occupation 10 months ago. (notice AP uses widely unpopular as a replacement for something like unpopular with *most* iraqis, which is what they want you to infer, this subtrefuge is no accident.)
    Al-Bahadli, al-Sadr's chief representative in southern Iraq, spoke at al-Hawi mosque in central Basra.
    It was the first time any anti-occupation activist of note publicly offered financial reward for the killing or capturing of coalition troops.
    holy fucking crap associated Press!!!! he's an activist???!!!! what the fuck kind of misuse of the english language is that!!! this guy is an armed rebel/millitant! not an activist.
    lets review, he is putting out a bounty for people to kill american soldiers and iraqis, and an edict to rape and enslave brittish female soldiers.
    he is not an activist, AP, get your terrorist sypathizing heads out of your ass's.
    a shift is breaking through the situation regarding sadr and his militia
    Shia leaders offer deal to militant
    Leaders of Iraq's largest Shia Muslim tribes have offered renegade cleric Muqtada al-Sadr a face-saving deal -- and an ultimatum -- to leave the holy city of Najaf.
    The arrangement would give al-Sadr a chance to avoid humiliation by surrendering to the tribal leaders instead of being arrested by U.S. troops. But it would still require him to stand trial in an Iraqi court in the assassination of a rival cleric last year. It also would require al-Sadr to disarm his militia, the Mahdi Army, which has been fighting with U.S. forces for more than a month.
    The deal has the blessings of Iraq's top Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, according to several people involved in drafting it. While U.S. officials have not yet been presented with the full details, they appear willing to accept it. The tribal leaders told al-Sadr yesterday that he had until only May 15 to accept the offer. If he turns it down, he will lose the tribes' backing. That would effectively give the U.S. military a green light to arrest or kill al-Sadr and crush his militia by launching an attack on Najaf.
    times running out sadr. we shall now see some kind of conclusion and it wont include him continuing to run an armed militia or controling any cities. he played his hand with the help of the iranians and it fizzled.
    Tim at random observations had a disconcerting discusion
    with an average left winger. it was really kind of sad to watch someone so lost as to the structure of our country, the meaning of language, the definition of concepts, and stewing in thier own anger.
    I checked in to his blog and saw some of it and left a response~~
    wow dennis completely missed the point of what you wrote.
    and his disjoited rhetoric was really hard to follow...
    but the first thing that he puts out as fact (bush being apointed as apposed to elected is at this point tiresome. and easily refuted. seeing that 5 national newspapers sponsered and payed for a re-count in florida specifically to further embarrass the bush admin, but lo and behold it counted up in his favor again.
    the papers in question slid that bit of frustrating news (for them) to the middle of thier papers...
    and they had such high hopes...
    mostly what I dont think he understood was the concept of projection.
    tim e-mailed me with some more of this mans disjointed polemic and his patient response to it
    I agree with you completely. He made me sad -- I could see what he's going through and I felt pity for him, trapped in his world of anger and illusions -- so I wrote to him several times. The last time, he defined democracy as "protecting the minority from the tyranny of the majority." And complained about "people like me" who were taking away democracy, and hinted at a "revolution" if we kept it up, and told me I couldn't tell other people what to do, since I was (he felt certain) taking my orders from a church somewhere.
    I pointed out that he was negating the meaning of democracy. It's rule by the majority, not the other way around. I pointed out that he really didn't love democracy if he would overthrow it if his kind of people weren't in the majority. I asked how a revolution would fix anything, if I and people like me were the problem. Was he going to have a revolution and then institute democracy again? How would that make me go away? He'd have to kill people like me, or give up on democracy. Or both.
    I pointed out he was wrong: I did have the right to tell other people what to do. It's called "democracy" where we vote (indirectly) to create law. (Actually, yes, we all know it's a Republic, but I don't typically push it.) I pointed out that if he felt I shouldn't be allowed to vote if my feelings were influenced by a religion, it meant he had no respect for the first ammendment he claimed he loved.
    In short, that he hates the concept (democracy) he's been taught to believe he loves.
    He never wrote back to the second letter. I hope that means a nerve was struck.
    These guys are sad, but very scary. Sad because I sympathize with their anger. There but for the grace of God go I.
    But scary because they're totalitarian wannabees, composed of quivering hot rage. That stuff they're drinking from the left teaches them to hate, while telling them they're sublimely right and moral to do so. And there's more of them each year, it seems: it's like the Weimar Republic all over again, and I fear for the union.
    Best to ya, rumcrook.
    - Tim
    Your whining is tedious
    Who Is Glorifying the Culture of Death?
    By M. Salahuddin
    May 6, 2004, 13:52
    Not long ago Asharq Al-Awsat’s correspondent in Washington quoted an unnamed White House official as accusing the Arab world of being “a society that glorifies a culture of death.”
    (yeah that's right, and the evidence is in the dancing in the arab street when thousands of american men women and children were murdered on 911, or when we watch happy gleefull iraqis dance around holding charred body parts from a murder they just commited, or when they celibrate the murder of a mother and her children who were shot in the face)
    On another front, not a single prominent American official, whether Defense Secretary Rumsfeld or Secretary of State Colin Powell or any of their aides has expressed approval of the Arab media’s use of the terms “martyr” and “martyrdom.” (boooh hooo we're supposed to handle your delicate feelings and cultural humiliation complex with kid gloves?? while they try to kill us? we didnt handle the nazis like that we're not gonna handle our modern enemies like that) Even the use of the term “resistance” has become taboo in the eyes of the American administration because anyone who dares resist the Zionist occupation of Palestine(shouldnt have attacked israel and tried to wipe out all the jews and thier wouldnt be this problem today) or the American occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan must be a retarded bloodthirsty, death-seeking criminal terrorist and a deviant who abhors freedom and democracy. (you said it not me...)
    No one has questioned these officials as to what word they apply to their own fallen soldiers in Afghanistan, Iraq and the rest of the world. Why do they glorify them, bestowing on them the title of hero, describing them as patriots, decorating their coffins with the highest medals of honor and erecting memorials to them? (because they went off to fight the battle against the forces who iether commited the murder of thousands of our fellow citizens on 911, or are the terror states who sponsored those same scum thus keeping these afore mentioned scum from coming to america and killing more of our innocent men women and children)
    Why indeed were the poor men sent to the fields of death in the first place (because of 911 you half wit) in spite of the condemnation of the whole world, (the whole world? man the over the top bullshit is getting deep, I see plenty of other countries helping us in afghanistan, and even with the pull out of some coalition partners from iraq we still have many nations on our side) in contravention of all international laws and without a mandate from the United Nations? (we need the despots of the united nations who do not have our best interests at heart to ok our self defense? dont make me laugh)
    What of the tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans who were appallingly killed at the hands of these forces,(first lets tackle the afghani situation, we were attacked on 911 from a group sanctioned and supported by the taliban, we gave them a chance to turn over the terrorists, they refused, we went to war, and it was completely justified. next iraq, we told saddam to avoid bloodshed at even the last moments by abdicating power and leaving iraq, he refused and even in war we tried our hardest to minimize civilian casualties) their bodies torn apart by bombs from planes, their heads crushed under tanks and armored vehicles? How many women, children and elderly were among those killed? How many were civilians unable even to use a weapon? Are we to call our dead terrorist criminals and murderers who abhor civilization and freedom and are anti-democratic? Do those distant leaders want us to consider them insects, whose lives and souls are worthless, their families not worthy of being consoled? (I get the feeling you cry crocidile tears, and were probably secretly rejoicing when our three thousand were being crushed murdered burned to death, treated as insects who's lives and souls are worthless. you sir are projecting. as evidence let me qoute this "muslim holy man" ~~~"We don't make a distinction between civilians and non-civilians, non-civilians, innocents and non-innocents. Only between Muslims and unbelievers. And the life of an unbeliever has no value. It has no sanctity."
    -Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, head of the al Muhajiroun group in London.)
    What does Rumsfeld expect a Palestinian, whether male or female, whose parents have been killed, brothers imprisoned, home bulldozed, land stolen and family made homeless by the Zionist occupation, to do? A Palestinian who has been besieged and humiliated in the heart of his or her village? Can any Palestinian be expected to accept all this and then crawl on his knees holding up a white flag, To kiss Sharon’s boots and pledge allegiance to Israel?
    (I cant speak for rummy but I expect them not to act like blood thirsty death cultist who revel in shooting 2 year old girls in the face!)
    he goes on and on like this, frankly he tires me. especially with the joke title "critical analysis" his world is a world in which all of his perspective has happened in a vaccume. we just went wild invading countries for no apparent reason, and no blame can be assigned to radical islam or arabs whatso ever. its pathetic whinning and sounds like the rationale of a two year old who can never see thier role in the mess around them, as they pissed off the authority figure in their life over and over till they got a reaction they didnt like. read uss cole, the embassy bombings, the first wtt bombings, and so much more.
    I dont know why im bothering this idiot is only one of millions.
    how does someone this stupid make it to congress.
    From http://OpinionJournal.com
    'So Called Saddam'
    Rep. Maxine Waters, a far-left Californian and member of the Congressional Black Caucus, had this to say in an interview yesterday with the "Democracy Now" radio program: "Everywhere we go we seem to be creating a mess. We've created a mess in Iraq, and our soldiers are dying every day. Now we find that we are violating the prisoners. We're treating them worse than so-called Saddam had treated them."
    james taranto editor of Best of the Web Today sounds off on maxine "the moron" waters
    "With all due respect to the glories of free speech, this is pathetic. What happened at Abu Ghraib is bad enough without exaggerating it by preposterously calling it worse than Saddam. And "so-called Saddam"? Does Waters simply believe America's enemies don't exist?"
    I would rather focus on her mental midgetry to claim we are worst then saddam, a man who had people fed feet fist into wood chippers, dunked slowly into acid vats, and had a whole nursery school of children and thier teachers from the kurdish north put in a trench & murdered in mass, some not even dead when they were covered with dirt. and if you need more evidence refuting waters hysterical nonsense read this
    More on the murder of the mother and her children
    saw this at aarons rant blogthis is a perfect example of why I cannot stand NPR. why and how could anyone with a conscience go this far out of their way to make killing the killers who had murdered a mom and her babies the equivalent of those murderers executing little girls by shooting them in the faces? wanna defend that liberals? arab/muslim apologists? didnt thinks so...
    UPDATED CAMERA ALERT: NPR Blames Mother and Daughters for their own Murders
    In perhaps the most distorted coverage of the brutal murder of a pregnant Israeli mother and her four young daughters, NPR’s Julie McCarthy blamed the victims for their own slaughter. In the atrocity in Gaza on May 2, the gunmen reportedly fired on the family’s car from 20 yards away. When 34-year-old Tali, a social worker who was in her last trimester of pregnancy, lost control of the vehicle, the Palestinian terrorists approached the vehicle and executed Tali and her daughters — Hila, 11; Hadar, 9; Roni, 7 and Merav, 2 — one by one at close range. According to press reports, the younger children were still strapped into their car seats, the car was blood-soaked, and it took the ZAKA recovery crew a long time to extract all of the bullets and collect the body parts.
    Julie McCarthy’s egregious statement on “Morning Edition” today came at the end of a report about Ariel Sharon's referendum loss on his “disengagement" plan. McCarthy reported:
    The settlers rallied support saying Israel was withdrawing under fire. But there was ample evidence yesterday to show that their continued presence in Gaza is provoking bloodshed. Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinian gunmen after the men ambushed mother and her four small daughters outside the Gaza settlement of Gush Katif. The family was shot and killed on their way to the Israeli city of Ashkelon where they intended to campaign against Ariel Sharon and his plan to uproot them from Gaza. Julie McCarthy, NPR news, Jerusalem.
    BLAMING THE VICTIM
    McCarthy’s editorializing that the Jewish community’s “continued presence in Gaza is provoking bloodshed” is consistent with the Palestinian Authority view that the killing of settlers is a natural and legitimate outgrowth of the fact that Jews dare to inhabit territory that the Palestinians claim as their own. According to Ha'aretz, “A senior Palestinian source said he thought there was no chance the Palestinian Authority would express reservations, since every settler was considered an integral part of the occupation against which action must be taken” (Danny Rubinstein, 5/3/04).
    Of course, though, there is no justification whatsoever within international law that justifies the killing of civilians simply because they live in territory which others claim as their own. Unfortunately, McCarthy's report suggests justification where there is none. ’
    REVERSING CAUSE AND EFFECT
    McCarthy further distorts the killing of the Hatuel family members by reversing the chronology of events. She states: “Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinian gunmen after the men ambushed a mother and her four small daughters outside the Gaza settlement of Gush Katif.” Why is the Israeli response mentioned before the Palestinian murder? The result is that the defensive Israeli action is amplified while the Palestinians’ barbarous act is de-emphasized.
    SOFT-PEDALLING THE MURDER
    McCarthy's sanitized description of the Hatuels’ murder employs equivalent language to describe Israel’s shooting of murderers and the murderers’ butchering of young children and their mother. Thus, “Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinian gunmen,” “the men ambushed a mother and her four small daughters,” and “the family was shot and killed.” From these indistinguishable descriptions, listeners would have no clue as to the brutality of the execution of a mother and four children whose bodies were riddled by dozens of bullets shot at point blank range.
    CAIR is at it again
    voting and participating in our democratic republic is to be aplauded, but CAIR has different reason behind it. heres an op ed on the subject
    CAIR's Drive to Register Islamic Voters" by Frank Salvato
    The voter registration drives, supported and sponsored by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), is centered on the belief that there is an ongoing assault on civil liberties by the Bush administration in the aftermath of September 11. CAIR cites the fact that in a country of over a quarter of a billion people 1,200 people of Muslim or Arab descent were detained by the federal authorities for questioning. They find these actions to be unacceptable.
    It can be viewed as amazing that representatives of an entire culture can’t invoke enough common sense to realize that detaining 1,200 practicing Muslims who were either here illegally or in some way suspected of being connected with a terrorist organization, was a necessity in getting a handle on one of the bloodiest days in American history. If CAIR's leaders truly believed in the American principles of community, they would have taken the lead in denouncing the actions of those who waged war on our soil by weeding the murderous elements out of their own communities. Instead, CAIR throws an inclusive blanket over all Muslims, those who are upstanding members of their community and those who would take flight lessons at unsuspecting flight schools in order to fly planes into occupied buildings, and say that all Muslims are being discriminated against. Now groups like CAIR say they want to bring about change? It needs to be asked, what change do they want to bring about?
    what this writer misses is that CAIR didnt miss the common sense in detaining those 1200 just after 911 they choose loyalty to other muslims over loyalty to country no matter what danger, threat or evil they may pose. that is why CAIR cannot be trusted.
    at least not by americans.
    here's a story related to CAIR by way of exposing thier real agenda.
    in this latest example of radical wahabi take overs at mosques around the US,
    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Not long ago in my little mosque around the corner from a McDonald’s, a student from the university here delivered a sermon. To love the Prophet Muhammad, he said, “is to hate those who hate him.” He railed against man-made doctrines that replace Islamic law, and excoriated the “enemies of Islam” who deny strict adherence to Sunnah, or the ways of Muhammad. While he wasn’t espousing violence, his words echoed the extremist vocabulary of Wahhabism, used by some followers to breed militant attitudes.Like others who listened that day, I was stung by the sermon. It stands in chilling contrast to reforms taking place within Muslim communities nationwide. In fact, only months earlier at my mosque, my mother, sister-in-law, niece and I prayed in the main hall, an act of defiance that led to a reversal of the policy that women had to pray in a secluded balcony. Sadly, I have learned that the realization of an inclusive Islam is a fragile thing, even in this country. Americans need not look elsewhere to hear hate-filled rhetoric preached by fundamentalists. It resounds in our own back yards.Like many small mosques, mine does not have an imam. Instead, a governing board —which appoints its own members — sets policy. An elected executive committee is supposed to decide who will lead prayers and deliver sermons. With infighting, that committee disintegrated over the last year, and went vacant after the board failed to hold elections in November. The board took over managing the mosque. A month before the student’s speech, he and about 10 other men staged the equivalent of a coup.
    she goes on to lament getting no help from muslim orgs. like CAIR.
    charles, the editor of LGF address's the sad truth of why that is~~
    "Unfortunately, Nomani still harbors illusions about ISNA and CAIR; she says they are “reluctant to take a strong stand.” This is incorrect; these groups are not reluctant at all to take a stand—in favor of the radicals."
    poster Ed Moran at LGF remarks insightfully
    "It is sad that there are moderate Muslims, but they are losing the fight. I get the impression that before jet travel and modern communications brought the world together, the farther an Islamic community was from the radical center of hate (ie, the Arabian peninsula) the more peaceful they became."
    he hits on it, and here's the problem in a nut shell,
    wahabism is being funded and exported by the magical kingdom. and it is so agressive that even "moderate" muslims like this women know that to fight them is to mark yourself.
    even if you consider yourself a good muslim, it wont matter, you put yourself in danger, they know it and they are loosing control of mosque after mosque in the united states to these "muslim mobsters",
    truly peaceful muslims are no match for these wahabists, its like trying to stand up to tony soprano's henchmen if your just an average joe neghborhood bussiness man.
    ***CAIR update***
    Behind CAIR's Hate Crimes Report
    CAIR says bias crimes against Muslims are up 70 percent in the last year. Could that be true?
    by David Skinner
    05/06/2004 2:00:00 PM
    some of CAIR's complaints don't even pass the laugh test: "A mother called CAIR California to report that on March 14th a school coach barred her daughter from participation in the badminton team because she wears a hijab." Never mind the sourcing problem--it doesn't take great powers of imagination to foresee "hijab" problems cropping up in high school sports programs. The most unintentionally funny--and weirdly sad--incident in the entire report is contained in a Newsday article included in the appendix: "A Muslim woman shopping in a Brooklyn toy store was assaulted by a man who slurred Arabs and flung a Mr. Potato Head at her, police said yesterday. The suspect's father later said his son apparently acted out of grief because a friend in Israel had been killed by a suicide bomber in Israel."
    Despite itself, the CAIR report does seem to have happened onto some serious instances of bias crime, but they clearly represent only a small portion of what CAIR describes as increasing anti-Muslim activity. So until CAIR can distinguish between real crimes and flying Mr. Potato-heads, it would be best if their work were dismissed as the cheap agitprop it clearly is.
    AN ARMY OF SCUM
    By Ted Rall
    Or, We're Looking For a Few Good Homosexual Rapists
    "American troops occupying Iraq have become virtually indistinguishable from the SS. Like the Germans during World War II, they cordon off and bomb civilian villages to retaliate for guerilla attacks on their convoys. Like the blackshirts who terrorized Europe, America's victims disappear into hellish prisons ruled by sadists and murderers. The U.S. military is short just one item to achieve moral parity with the Nazis: gas chambers"
    he goes on like this calling american soldiers every name in the book including mass murderers....
    Brandi in AZ a poster at LGF follows it to the logical conclusion.
    "This filth from Rall, the disgusting op-ed from Rene Gonzales about Pat Tillman, and the "we support our troops when they shoot their officers," anti-war signs all point to one thing. The hard left in this country is just itching, just waiting with bated breath to say the word "babykiller" again openly. The fact is, Rall and Gonzales are just the sentinels, the precursors. The wave is still coming and it's about to crest"
    its never been about justice or "peace" for these anti war scum, its only ever been about hating america and wanting to undermine it and our troops.
    here is a small way for people who see rall as the scum that he is to act.
    more lies from moore
    moore lies
    WASHINGTON, May 4 — The Walt Disney Company is blocking its Miramax division from distributing a new documentary by Michael Moore that harshly criticizes President Bush, executives at both Disney and Miramax said Tuesday.The film, "Fahrenheit 911," links Mr. Bush and prominent Saudis — including the family of Osama bin Laden — and criticizes Mr. Bush's actions before and after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks......
    ....A senior Disney executive elaborated that the company had the right to quash Miramax's distribution of films if it deemed their distribution to be against the interests of the company. The executive said Mr. Moore's film is deemed to be against Disney's interests not because of the company's business dealings with the government but because Disney caters to families of all political stripes and believes Mr. Moore's film, which does not have a release date, could alienate many.
    "It's not in the interest of any major corporation to be dragged into a highly charged partisan political battle," this executive said.
    Miramax is free to seek another distributor in North America, but such a deal would force it to share profits and be a blow to Harvey Weinstein, a big donor to Democrats.
    Mr. Moore, who will present the film at the Cannes film festival this month, criticized Disney's decision in an interview on Tuesday, saying, "At some point the question has to be asked, `Should this be happening in a free and open society where the monied interests essentially call the shots regarding the information that the public is allowed to see?' "
    Mr. Moore's films, like "Roger and Me" and "Bowling for Columbine," are often a political lightning rod, as Mr. Moore sets out to skewer what he says are the misguided priorities of conservatives and big business. They have also often performed well at the box office. His most recent movie, "Bowling for Columbine," took in about $22 million in North America for United Artists. His books, like "Stupid White Men," a jeremiad against the Bush administration that has sold more than a million copies, have also been lucrative.
    Mr. Moore does not disagree that "Fahrenheit 911" is highly charged, but he took issue with the description of it as partisan. "If this is partisan in any way it is partisan on the side of the poor and working people in this country who provide fodder for this war machine," he said.
    Mr. Moore said the film describes financial connections between the Bush family and its associates and prominent Saudi Arabian families that go back three decades. He said it closely explores the government's role in the evacuation of relatives of Mr. bin Laden from the United States immediately after the 2001 attacks. The film includes comments from American soldiers on the ground in Iraq expressing disillusionment with the war, he said.
    Mr. Moore once planned to produce the film with Mr. Gibson's company, but "the project wasn't right for Icon," said Alan Nierob, an Icon spokesman, adding that the decision had nothing to do with politics.
    Miramax stepped in immediately. The company had distributed Mr. Moore's 1997 film, "The Big One." In return for providing most of the new film's $6 million budget, Miramax was positioned to distribute it.
    While Disney's objections were made clear early on, one executive said the Miramax leadership hoped it would be able to prevail upon Disney to sign off on distribution, which would ideally happen this summer, before the election and when political interest is high.
    so basically this is a high budget political action commercial for the democratic party from a guy who admits he's partisan and whom no one with a rational bone in their body, and any personal knowledge of moore couldn't see as a propaganda attack, and if any of his other films or statements are of any evidence, it will be filled with outright lies. As moore will do or say anything to damage this president. I dont blame disney at all, as the country is split down the middle acording to most polls, why would they want to alienate half the country from buying disney products or coming to disney? in the entirety of the article they charge disney is "censoring" them from fear of losing tax breaks under bush's brother in florida, moore lies from moore. it is evident to me that it comes down to not wanting to lose half the population as customers...
    resorting to restricting speach in houses of worship
    Madrid imam hails preacher curbs
    By Danny Wood
    BBC correspondent in Madrid
    Moneir Mahmoud, the religious leader of Madrid's main mosque, says he supports a proposal to restrict what Muslim clerics can preach.
    Interior Minister José Antonio Alonso wants the law to control what can be said to congregations in Spain's mosques and churches.
    Spain's recently elected Socialist government is looking for new ways to combat militant Islamic extremism.
    An extremist group is the main suspect in the Madrid bombings of 11 March.
    Mr Alonso has proposed establishing a register to control religious activities, both Muslim and Roman Catholic.
    Mr Alonso says the register would identify who was responsible for leading worship and the type of worship to take place.
    The religious leader of Madrid's mosque has welcomed the idea.
    In an interview published in El Mundo newspaper, Mr Mahmoud says it would be good for the government to know what certain clerics were saying to their congregations.
    The leader of Spain's biggest mosque says there are extremists preaching to the Islamic community and he believes the government needs to stop them.
    'Return to censorship'
    But attempts to limit religious freedom strike a sensitive chord in Spain.
    In addition to the country's more than half a million practising Muslims, 30 million Spaniards identify themselves as Roman Catholic.
    The opposition Popular Party and leading Roman Catholic bishops are against any attempts to curtail religious freedom.
    I find this contrast of two religions very instructive, as a practicing roman catholic I can say with complete authority that I have never heard a priest sermonize at any point ever, that we (as catholics) had a duty to kill all the non christians or non catholics.
    not once, not ever.
    I can google up diatribe after diatribe from imams in their mosques extolling thier "flock" to go forth and kill the infidels.
    why is this law needed? not to reign in the christians.....
    'Bomb London, bomb New York' and 'We are terrorists'
    The caption to this AP photo reads:
    Demonstrators chant 'Bomb London, bomb New York' and 'We are terrorists' outside Downing Street, London, Tuesday May 4, 2004, on the day that the British government announced that it will make a statement concerning the photographs which allegedly show British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners. (AP Photo/John D McHugh)
    jihad watch's Robert Spencer puts it succinctly and brings all his knowledge to bear in his address to this photo and the demon-strators "Is this your freedom? In a word, no. Our freedom is more accurately illustrated by the fact that those responsible for the abuse of prisoners will be prosecuted. They are, in other words, not protected by an ideology that is immune to self-criticism and justifies abuses by theological or legal tenets, or by reference to other abuses.
    Look at the signs the demonstrators are carrying. They are from Al-Muhajiroun, the notorious pro-Osama radical Muslim group in Britain that has been wanting to "bomb London, bomb New York" long before these prisoners were abused- and long before there were even any American troops in Iraq. Their "Remember September 11" is not a memorial, it's a threat. You can read about them in Onward Muslim Soldiers, where, among other things, I record the group's leader Omar Bakri's statement that he is working for the day when the "black flag of Islam" - the jihad flag - will fly over #10 Downing Street. The Iraqi prisoners are just the latest pretext.
    tacitus versus wretchard, two opposing arguments on what is happening in faluja
    blogger tacitus lays out a straight ahead damn the torpedoes military/ philosophy in the fight against islamo fascists and he is unflinchingly pessimistic about what just happened in faluja. I am inclined to listen to his argument, but I think wretchard at the belmont club may have a more positive critique based on the available evidence, and it shows the game isn't over yet... Here is the lead up to tacitus's thesis.
    http://www.tacitus.org/story/2004/4/30/125923/437
    In the history of the modern Islamic struggle against the West, certain events stand out as uniquely heartening victories for the enemy: examples, to their minds, of David defeating the mechanized Goliath of the infidel world. You've got Carter's headlong retreat from confrontation with the Iranian revolutionaries; Reagan's precipitous flight from Lebanon; Russia's retreat from Afghanistan; Clinton's flight-or-flight response to the Battle of Mogadishu; and Barak's deeply foolish retreat from south Lebanon. Each of these defeats have the following characteristics in common:
    A militarily superior force, by dint of weariness or wariness, chose to not resist or not to defeat an inferior force.
    ●The victory of the inferior over the superior is not interpreted by the inferior as goodwill or rational restraint on the part of the superior.
    ●The victory of the inferior over the superior is interpreted by the inferior as evidence of Allah's active enmity toward the superior.
    ●The evidentially-confirmed active enmity of Allah is understood, and corroborated by preexisting jihad ideology, to constitute a commandment to further warfare against the superior force.
    ●Further warfare is carried out by the inferior force (or those inspired by it, the inferior force having survived to motivate and/or teach the devotees of jihad) against the superior force or its perceived peers.
    ●The net result of the superior force's attempt to placate and/or disengage from the inferior force is more bloodshed at the hands of the inferior force.
    Or you can ditch the bullet points and simply state that for the purpose of avoiding the final, negative and inevitable outcome -- more dead on your side -- it would have been far better to simply stay and fight things out to a definitive conclusion.
    finishhttp://www.tacitus.org/story/2004/4/30/125923/437 but afterwards read wretchards belmont club so your not inclined to cry defeat to early...
    Ex-Diplomats Bash Bush, Israel
    Some 60 former U.S. diplomats, many of whom were posted in Muslim countries, have signed an anti-Israel letter to President Bush:
    *** QUOTE ***
    As retired foreign service officers we care deeply about our nation's foreign policy and US credibility in the world.
    We also are deeply concerned by your April 14 endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's unilateral plan to reject the rights of three million Palestinians, to deny the right of refugees to return to their homeland, and to retain five large illegal settlement blocs in the occupied West Bank.
    *** END QUOTE ***
    The letter scores President Bush for "closing the door to negotiations with Palestinians and the possibility of a Palestinian state"--and never mind that he is the first president explicltly to endorse a Palestinian state.
    "Your unqualified support of Sharon's extra-judicial assassinations, Israel's Berlin Wall-like barrier, its harsh military measures in occupied territories, and now your endorsement of Sharon's unilateral plan are costing our country its credibility, prestige and friends," they claim. Not a word about Arab countries' support for terrorism against Israel, their refusal to recognize the Jewish state, or the promotion of anti-Semitism in mosques, media and textbooks.
    Here's a sort of silly example of the irrational anti-Israel sentiment that the diplomats seem to accept as the norm in the Arab world: A court in Cairo "rejected Monday the establishment of an Egyptian-Israeli association, saying Arabs do not need 'false friendship,' " the Associated Press reports from the Egyptian capital:
    *** QUOTE ***
    A film director, Nabil Abdel-Alim, had applied to set up the association to promote communication between Egyptians and Israelis. When the Ministry of Social Affairs, which oversees Egypt's civil society, refused his application, he went to court.
    *** END QUOTE ***
    The judge rejected the appeal, partly on the ground that the friendship society would have "a political agenda."
    And from the Jerusalem Post, here's a more serious example of the sort of Arab behavior that doesn't seem to trouble the ex-diplomats:
    *** QUOTE ***
    Natzer Awartani, 16, was indicted at the Samaria military court on Tuesday for recruiting, preparing and dispatching young suicide bombers for the al-Aksa Martyr's Brigades, including 14-year-old Husam Abdu [ another Jerusalem Post article has his age at 16], who was apprehended on March 24, 2004 at the Hawara roadblock, explosives strapped to his waist.
    *** END QUOTE ***
    So why are these erstwhile foreign service officers so keen to bash Israel? Diplomats sometimes end up acting as advocates for the country where they're assigned rather than their own; it's possible that these guys simply "went native."
    London's Sunday Telegraph hints at another possibility. The U.S. diplomats explain that they were inspired by a similar letter to Tony Blair, which 52 former British diplomats signed. The Telegraph notes that some of the British 52 "have business links with Arab governments" or "are paid by pro-Arab organisations," and that they failed to disclose such ties as part of the letter. It would be interesting to look into the income sources of President Bush's correspondents.
    yeah it would, something tells me they have thier noses so far up arab keester they can smell the hummis.
    british photos fabricated?
    James taranto puts the suspicious pieces together
    Distorting Mirror
    "Controversy is growing over the authenticity of photographs that allegedly show British troops mistreating an Iraqi prisoner," CNN reports. "Some British military officials have cast doubt on the pictures--first published in the Daily Mirror newspaper--saying the clothing and equipment pictured is not currently troop issue."
    The Daily Mirror is a left-wing tabloid that has previously printed ludicrous "exposes" of the U.S. detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, including one in March that quoted an erstwhile inmate's claim that, in the Mirror's words, "prostitutes were taken into the camp to degrade Muslim inmates."
    The Sun, a right-wing tabloid, "ran a story on Monday quoting military experts saying the photographs were 'staged' fakes," CNN notes. The Guardian, a left-wing broadsheet, also identifies problems with five Mirror photos. The Mirror stands by its story, describing the criticism as "the whispering campaign and dodgy briefings." (By contrast, no one has challenged the veracity of photos showing American soldiers allegedly abusing Iraqi prisoners.)
    The free press is one of democracy's glories, and even in wartime it's necessary to hold government accountable. But if the Mirror does turn out to have fabricated the photos, it will be the clearest evidence yet that some in the press are abusing their power and consciously contributing to enemy propaganda during wartime.
    Esteemed gentleman,
    Yesterday morning a heavily pregnant Israeli woman traveling with her 4 innocent little daughters were murdered by Palestinian gunmen, each one of them shot dead in cold blood by a bullet through the head.
    What happened gentleman? – not gruesome enough for you to speak out.
    Where were you Mr. Annan? Never a slow mover when it comes to quoting your usual "malignant metaphor" of asking for both sides to end the cycle of violence, especially if g-d forbid just one demonic stone throwing Palestinian child in Jenin has been accidentally killed by Israeli soldiers. This usually brings you racing out of the rotting woodwork of the UN building faster than 5 Palestinian bullets could kill 4 little Israeli girls and their pregnant mother.
    Where were you Mr. Patten? Still to busy looking through reports of Palestinian spending, conveniently finding no sign of monies being diverted for terrorism, yet never demanding how such a degree of poverty, recently compared to the Sub Saharan Continent, allowed 2 youths to have guns and bullets to kill 4 little Israeli girls and their pregnant mother.
    Where were you Mr. Solana. To o absorbed with your obsession with the Arabs, trying as usual to give all these tin-pot dictators some hope for a peaceful future, if only Israel would be more obliging to their demands.
    Where were you Mr. Straw? You let the killing of the quadriplegic Sheik Yassin and the blood thirsty Rassin ruin your Sunday lunch. You were quick of the mark with your grim expression and dubious comments of "unjustified and illegal" at this act by Israel, yet remain ominously silent as the effects of these 2 evil creatures teachings reach the innocent heads of 4 little girls and their pregnant mother.
    Not one of you has, or had the moral conscience to come out and condemn this horrendous and despicable act. It was carried out by people trained and heavily brainwashed in barbarism. The same people that you think deserve millions of dollars in aid and their own state.
    These 5 people died a senseless and horrendous death. 4 little girls had to watch their mother callously murdered before these same dehumanized ghouls turned their bullets onto these petrified and innocent little girls. Not a single word of horror or condemnation came out of any of your biased and bigoted mouths.
    One can only imagine what will be written on their death certificates. One thing is for sure though and that is what will be written on all of yours;
    "Died of Shame caused by irreversible decay of the conscience".
    How to lie out your ass 101, this course will be taught by Aljazeera
    How to lie out your ass 101
    Clashes have occurred in the southern Iraqi town of Karbala, while US occupation forces are blamed for the Najaf clashes which left five Iraqis dead on Monday. (blamed by who? the rogue mahdi militia made up of thugs and iranian infiltrators, boy that's a credible group, notice theirs no attempt to find out what happened from the American side)
    A spokesman for Shia leader, Muqtada al-Sadr has reportedly said that US occupation forces provoked the clashes.
    Shaikh Ahmad al-Shaibani told AFP that US soldiers at a base in Najaf, previously occupied by Spanish and Latin American troops, provoked clashes by firing at a pickup truck transporting fighters from al-Sadr's Mahdi army from Najaf to Kufa on a back street in the city's industrial neighborhood. (come on, were to believe these militia men were just peace loving guy's who just happened to be passing by the American position and the Americans were the undisciplined force firing on them for no apparent reason?)
    Shaibani said this alleged attack on al-Sadr's men prompted them to fire mortars on the base and the checkpoint which was set up on the main road outside the base. (yeah that's why they fired mortars on the Americans.... anyone want to buy a bridge I own?)
    The fight that ensued killed four civilians(yeah right, and none of them were sadr's assholes? I could sell bridges I don't own to the people who read this crap and believe it, all day long) and one Iraqi policeman, with doctors at Najaf's Hakim General Hospital saying late on Monday that there were at least two other people killed in their cars near the base, but it was too dangerous for emergency crew to retrieve them.
    "America is responsible for the blood of innocent Iraqis," said Shaibani. (a truly nonbiased source to qoute, seeing how they havent given a damn who gets hurt or killed around them if it furthers thier goals, and, he is one of the subjects of this "report")
    In Karbala, 80km north of Najaf, the city hall and police headquarters, which are guarded by Bulgarian soldiers, came under mortar fire before dawn on Tuesday. (hmm... what was the excuse for thier coming under mortar fire? none given because there were no fake innocent deaths to milk from the outcome)
    Aljazeera's correspondent reports that armed clashes between supporters of al-Sadr and Polish troops as well as Iraqi police, occurred later.
    No casualties were reported. (see what I mean?)
    North of Baghdad, four US soldiers died from injuries sustained when their vehicle rolled over on Monday night during a patrol near Khalis, some 60km northeast of Baghdad, the occupation military said in a statement.
    (just thrown in to seem like they actually give equal wheight to coalition sides of a story, but interestingly it has nothing to do with what happened in the rest of the article, nice fake balance)
    and that kids is some of the techniques you will be learning in lying 101 with proffessor aljazeera...
    wretchard sifts the sandbox for clues and his deductions are compelling
    ●the enemy is probably still in the city
    ●the enemy may consist, in part, of Syrian fighters
    ●the USMC is probably still bottling them up otherwise how to account for the enemy
    containment, and is therefore present in the city, contrary to press reports
    The Kerry-Kofi Plan for America’s Future
    Democratic candidate plans to outsource our foreign policy.
    image via arrons rant blog
    By Anne Bayefsky
    John Kerry's would-be foreign policy, articulated in a speech at Westminster College in Missouri on Friday, ought to ring alarm bells across America. He announced that the U.N. must "provide the necessary legitimacy" for the successful prosecution of the war against terrorism on the Iraqi frontlines and the ultimate transformation of Iraq. According to Kerry, the U.N. "is the key that opens the door."
    Let us therefore consider whether the U.N. record on terrorism is deserving of this central role.
    The U.N. has no definition of terrorism. For years, a working group of the General Assembly has been unable to finalize a comprehensive convention against terrorism because consensus has been blocked by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The OIC maintains that blowing up people in the name of self-determination or an end to occupation does not count as terrorism.
    In the absence of a definition of terrorism, the Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee, created after 9/11, has never named a single terrorist or terrorist organization. Security Council meetings on the subject repeatedly end in stalemates or in the necessary use of an American veto because members of the Security Council are continually unable to condemn those on the State Department terrorist list, such as Hamas, or identify their victims.
    It isn't likely that Winston Churchill — with whom Kerry seems to think he has something in common — would have taken sustenance, let alone divined legitimacy, from an organization that cannot identify the enemy.
    this comes from kerry as, to quote charles of LGF "The pathetic joke known as the “UN Human Rights Commission” has descended to a new low, as the country of Sudan, a hellhole of genocidal murder and unrepentant slavery, is assured a seat on the commission.
    UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - African nations have ensured that Sudan gets a seat on the chief U.N. human rights watchdog and angered rights groups who want more liberal democracies to win a place.
    Fourteen vacant seats will be filled on Tuesday and on Wednesday for the 53-nation U.N. Human Rights Commission. Many have been decided by regional groups before the voting in the Economic and Social Council in New York.
    Sudan has been the target of worldwide criticism, including an expression of concern from the Geneva-based commission in late April. It has been accused of backing Arab militia destroying villages, raping and killing black Africans in the Darfur region.
    “A government that engages in wholesale abuses of its citizens should not be eligible for a seat at the table, especially a country just criticized by the commission,” said Joanna Weschler, U.N. delegate for Human Rights Watch, one of 10 advocacy groups that issued a protest statement.
    here's more about the sudan
    but this is the tip of the orwellian iceberg,
    Libya had the chair of this very commission, a country that's claim to fame was blowing airlines out of the sky with bombs, and sponsoring terrorists world wide.
    iraq was slated in March 2003, to assume the chairmanship of the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
    the UN's mafia like greased hands administration of the Iraq oil-for-food program
    Rwanda genocide abetted by france and pathetic UN forces who ran away.
    cambodian self genocide ignored by the UN.
    wrap this all up with the thousands of resolutions against israel for existing, and none against the arab forces murdering israeli women and children.
    an organisation run by corupt and despotic regimes, yet kerry wants them to decide the validity of our foriegn policy and have a veto over our self defense? I dont believe he is qualified to be the president with that position and a personal history of such poor decisions, and apparently neither do most of the men he served with in viet nam
    and if anyone else recalls any other orwellian examples of the UN's diseased core post them and I will add them to the list, it will probably be as long as my arm
    how evil, barbaric, depraved and savage is the culture of death the world calls "palistinian"?
    this evil, barbaric, depraved and savage
    "It was also learned that the terrorists not only murdered the 34-year-old mother of four who was eight months pregnant along with her children, but then ran up to the vehicle and took a video of the results of their actions, filming the young victims as they bled to death."
    More details on yesterday's massacre of the five members of the Hatuel family are now known. Two terrorists from Dir el-Balah, the Arab village closest to Kfar Darom and the Kisufim route to Gush Katif, lay in wait around noon for Jewish cars to arrive. They then opened fire with their Kalachnikov rifles on the cars passing by - the first of which were two armored vans belonging to a CNN news team. No one was hurt, but producer Mike Schwartz realized that a terrorist attack was in progress, and instructed the cars to drive forward and then park in the middle of the road. He thus prevented additional cars from falling into the ambush trap.
    Though Schwartz heroically saved the lives of those in some ten cars behind him, he couldn't help the Hatuel family, who was already on its way into the trap. The terrorists shot at the car carrying the mother and her four daughters, and when the vehicle veered off the side of the road, the terrorists performed "ascertainment of death:" they ran over to the car and, at point-blank range, shot each of the occupants to death: Tali, the 8-month pregnant mother, and Hila, 11, Hadar, 9, Roni, 7, and two-year-old Meirav. The murderers then continued to unload dozens of more bullets into the bodies. Zaka volunteers worked for a long while afterwards to collect the body parts from the car and its vicinity.
    this was cought by LGF and is a follow up to the news of the pregnant women and her little girls being murdered execution style. as they lived the last terrifying painful moments of thier lives these sadistic animals filmed it. but none of this matters to the paleostinian apologists out there in the blogasphere, thiers allways some excuse, why it really isnt the paleostinians fault. and every time I read one of these scum trolls I think, ...how sad not to have a soul....
    Iran Blasts U.S. Abuses, Urges EU to Get Serious
    By Sebastian Alison
    BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Iran accused the United States of systematically killing, torturing and raping Iraqis, and said such abuses by U.S. troops had bred hatred throughout the Islamic world
    Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi was speaking after the U.S. army reprimanded six officers in connection with the abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad.
    "What the Americans have been doing in Iraq (news - web sites), the very brutal actions of American soldiers, the systematic plan to torture Iraqis, to kill them, to rape them, is outrageous," he said after meeting European Commission (news - web sites) President Romano Prodi.
    "If Americans are in Iraq to promote democracy, is this the way to do it? American policy has created hatred all among Islamic countries, and we are at the stage of developing clashes between different cultures which is very, very dangerous," Kharrazi told reporters.
    He urged the U.S. "occupiers" to leave Iraq as soon as possible and hand over sovereignty to the Iraqi people.
    more food for thought on radical islam from Daniel Pipes
    saw this at LGF
    An Interview with Daniel Pipes
    it is important to understand the motivations and world of thought of extremist Muslims. Pipes defines an Islamist as one who believes Islam is the solution to every problem. "In America, an Islamist would be somebody who wants to replace the constitution with the Qur'an.2 It is a totalitarian movement that has much in common with fascism and Marxism-Leninism." He estimates that about 10-15 percent of Muslims in the world are Islamists, which is tantamount to well over a hundred million people. Pipes adds that the percentage is probably in the same order of magnitude among U.S. Muslims.
    He forecasts: "There will be more attacks by Islamists on Americans. I can say this confidently because so many signs point in this direction. These assaults will awaken people. I expect it to be a one-way process of what I call education by murder. I do expect ever more Americans to worry; contrarily, I do not expect to hear many say, 'Well, I used to be worried about the threat of militant Islam, but no longer.' As time passes and more events occur, their assessment will become more realistic.
    "As Islamists are dangerous, the methods to be used against them cannot be like those the United States usually applies to dissenters. However, much of the U.S. public is unprepared to discuss these matters; if one broaches the topic, one is accused of McCarthyism.
    "One little-noticed development concerns the declaration of war. This used to be part of a military undertaking, but since World War II it has become defunct, and along with it the legal machinery that once went into gear. When President Bush says we are at war, it is a political statement, not a legal one."
    The Main Determinant: Ideology
    Pipes adds: "There is a gradual awareness developing of militant Islam existing not just in the hills of Afghanistan but within American society. This is unparalleled in our country's history, as the United States never seriously confronted fascism or communism internally, as Europe was forced to do. Americans certainly never experienced a hazard from an ideological source comparable to the Islamists.
    "The focus on al-Qaeda is doubly misplaced. First, it is an umbrella group, rather than an actual organization. Second, it is a symptom of a much deeper attitude. The ideology is the key, not an organization. This ideology is a force in itself and not the result of socioeconomic conditions; it cannot be solved, for example, through a Marshall Plan type of response.
    "Militant Islam cannot be compared to any segment of Christianity, Judaism, or Hinduism. These religions do not embody groups with totalitarian utopian ideologies that seek world hegemony. In fact, militant Islam resembles fascism and communism more than any religious movement.
    "All we can do presently is prepare ourselves for worse to come. Eloquence and perceptivity did not make Churchill prime minister of Great Britain; it was the fall of France that did so. In like fashion, those who are warning of the dangers of militant Islam will be turned to should a fall-of-France style disaster occur.
    "Conservatives have increasingly become the backbone of understanding what the United States represents, what its duties are, and what it means to be an American. While Jews have traditionally been on the liberal side of the political spectrum, many are now becoming more conservative. Nevertheless, as moderate Democrats move increasingly to the left - as Dennis Prager points out, it is hard at this point to see a difference between a liberal and a leftist - there are many Jews on the left who are part of the problem. They see the United States as a 'rogue state,' want it never to respond with force, call for open borders, and generally disparage their own country."
    read from the begaining and read the end
    tit for tat? no israel targets murderers, the savage palistinians target pregnant women & children
    Mother, 4 daughters, killed in Gaza shooting
    By MARGOT DUDKEVITCH
    A pregnant mother and her four daughters were shot dead Sunday after two terrorists opened fire at Israeli cars traveling near the Kissufim Crossing at the entrance to the Gush Katif settlement bloc in the Gaza Strip.
    The dead were identified as Tali Hatuel, 34, eight months pregnant and her daughters Hila, 11, Hadar, 9, Roni, 7, Merav, 2 all from the settlement of Katif. Details of the funerals have yet to be finalized
    Two soldiers and an Israeli civilian were also wounded in the attack and were evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheba.
    The IDF said that both of the gunmen, who arrived at the area by car, were killed in an ensuing firefight.
    The Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and Popular Resistance Committees claimed joint responsibility for the attack, saying it was to avenge the assassinations of Hamas leaders Sheikh Yassin and Rantisi.
    The two Palestinians who carried out the attack were identified as Ibrahim Hamad and Faisal Abu Naqirah both from Rafiah.
    Police said the white Citroen station wagon, carrying the family, spun off the road after the initial shooting, then the attackers approached the vehicle and shot the occupants at close range.
    looks like its time for the paleostinian victory dances in the street to celebrate thier "brave" brothers in arms for killing the eeeevil zionist 2 year old and her pregnant mother and sisters.
    now its time for my take,~~~ these "palistinian" murderers are now in hell sceaming in the fires of eternal torment, where they belong
    the belmont club is the sea of calm, dispationately putting together the evidence, while everyone else cries about the sky falling
    The Fallujah Brigade and the Mahdi Army
    Most of today's accounts of events in Fallujah have given the impression of a beaten Marine Corps in retreat, barely pausing to hand over power to a Saddam-era general as it scuttles to safety. This report by the Boston Globe is more subdued than most:
    Covering their faces with checkered headscarves, militiamen loyal to a former Iraqi Army general jubilantly took to the streets of this battle-scarred city yesterday to celebrate what they called a triumph over withdrawing US Marines. ... "We won," said one of the militiamen, a former soldier who gave his name only as Abu Abdullah. "We didn’t want the Americans to enter the city and we succeeded."
    But as more details emerge on the actual positions being "evacuated" by the Marines and the state of readiness and deployment of the Fallujah Brigade, a somewhat different picture emerges. This press release from the US Marines describes what the former Iraqi Army general will be taking over:
    The unit assumed control of four checkpoints April 30 and has started patrolling Fallujah, he said. Yet, until the Iraqi battalion demonstrates a capacity to effectively man designated checkpoints and positions, Marines will continue to maintain a strong presence in and around Fallujah, said Kimmitt during a press briefing April 30. "We have assigned the Iraqi battalion to our least-engaged sector until they can get their feet on deck, absorb the weapons and equipment we are passing their way and prepare for the next phase of the operation," said Lt. Gen. James T. Conway, the I Marine Expeditionary Force commander.
    These limited duties are not surprising, given that the new Iraqi Brigade barely has guns, uniforms or boots.
    Motivated by a desire to get the Iraqis supplied as soon as possible, the Marines reduced their usual turnaround time, said CSSG-15's operations officer, Maj. Raphael Hernandez, a 35-year-old native of El Paso, Texas. As soon as the fully loaded helicopters hit the ground here, they were met by trucks from pre-staged convoys, which were immediately loaded and sent rolling to marry up with the battalion.The supplies came in two waves, one containing 13 boxes of AK-47s, which left for Fallujah early in the morning, and another made up of 20 crates of uniforms, boots and miscellaneous combat gear, which left later in the evening.
    These initial shipments are only expected to satisfy the battalion's initial needs. For now, the Iraqis are asking for very little, Conway said, even turning down flak jackets and opting for berets over helmets. Some of the soldiers already have their own uniforms, but Marines have shipped them the same garb as the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps wears. In terms of hardware, the battalion is in need of radios and trucks, which has I MEF burning the midnight oil trying to acquire, the general said.
    At present, the Fallujah Brigade is more a political force than actual military entity. This was underscored by the hostile reaction of Chalabi, the incoming Defense Minister and the Islamic Party member of the Iraqi Governing Council to its formation. Kurdish Media reports:
    While we refuse the endangering of the lives of civilians, we maintain that the return to service of Saddam’s Republican Guard in Fallujah to the military and political arena is a military initiative of the American Marines and has nothing to do with the new Iraqi Army. We do not bear the responsibility.
    We stand strongly against this move because it seriously threatens the security and future of Iraq. The command of the brigade and many of its members repressed the people in the uprising of March 1991 and supported Saddam’s regime throughout his dictatorial rule.
    Defense Minister Ali Allawi said "The Fallujah Force is not part of the new Iraqi Army. There is no place in the new Iraqi Army for senior officers of Saddam’s Republican Guards or those who have committed crimes against the Iraqi people." We endorse the statement of the Iraqi Defense Minister.
    Ahmad Chalabi, INC, Member Governing Council Dr. Sayed Mohammed Bahrululum, Member Governing Council Adel Abdul Mahdi, Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq, Alternate Member Governing Council
    Baghdad May 1, 2004
    "A military iniative of the American Marines". Chalabi and Mahdi are worried about this bootless force not so much for what it is, but what it portends. Indeed, they might be forgiven for thinking that the sudden appearance of this Brigade is some kind of American trick, a reminder that Washington too can play the game of divide and conquer by dealing directly with local political figures and arming factions independent of the new Iraqi Army.
    another exellent response to "rene" the weasil
    John Martin Diaz
    April 30, 2004
    Mr. Gonzalez has chosen to do exactly what Mr. Tillman did not want. He has publicized Mr. Tillman’s decision to give up the dream of many young men, a professional sports career, in order to do what he felt was necessary to protect our country and our way of life. It is exactly due to the sacrifices of such men and women that Mr. Gonzalez, who was fortunate enough to be born an American citizen, has the right to express any opinion he sees fit, on any subject, and at any point in the spectrum of good taste and empathy. Mr. Gonzalez has an agenda, as anyone who has looked into his writing and speeches can clearly see. However, not everyone who shares those views with Mr. Gonzalez chooses to capitalize on human tragedy to eviscerate the memory of a recently fallen U.S. soldier.
    Mr. Gonzalez clearly writes from a delusional position of intellectual and moral superiority. This is ironic in that Mr. Gonzalez, a graduate student, has yet to do anything of merit in the real world outside of the safe and structured fantasy world of academia. A world where, thanks to people like Mr. Tillman, he need never worry if he will be tortured or executed for his anti-government and anti-corporate message. The realities of the world are much more severe, sometimes requiring intervention and war with, and occupation of, other countries. Whether you agree with our foreign policy and interventions or not, it is clear that non-violent methods will not deter nor appease Islamic Fundamentalist terrorists. People who can commit acts like the attacks on 9/11 and more recently in Spain only understand one language and one currency: death. No amount of talking, treaties or economic reform will have any effect on people who care so little for human life they manipulate their own into suicide attacks with religious fantasies of a reward in the afterlife. Mr. Tillman gave up much and signed up to be an enlisted man in the hope that he could somehow do his small part in protecting us. He didn’t ask if our leaders made the right choices, he just did what his country needed him to do. Soldiers are not about politics, they are about projecting force in the interests of our nation. For that, Mr. Tillman is to be lauded and his family supported in their time of grief. The price of freedom, including Mr. Gonzalez’ freedom, is blood. Mr. Tillman paid part of that price for all of us.
